beornings

Hi everyone, Until I get a job and start making money I can't afford to get the rest of the LOTR. :( (Just when I finished FOTR!!!:mad:) Anyway, I remember during the chapter "Many Meetings" Gloin mentions the Beornings. My question is what were they doing during the whole of the...

In fact I'm not sure who the beornings are... I suppose they are Beorn's descendants and/or the men who lived between Misty Mountains and Mirkwood at the time of The Hobbit. Anyway, I don't remember having heard of them anywhere other than The Hobbit. There it is said that they freed the...

I am wondering how the beornings are named. If i could figure out what they called gandalf in the hobbit.... Would they use elvish names since they live so close to the elves in the kingdom of mirkwood?
