Or did J.R.R Tolkien say. Just English, and it wouldnt matter if its Cockney, Redneck, Australian, British or American accent.
Just overall curious?
edit: found this reddit post. Unsure if this is quote by Tolkien, but here is what it says
(Tolkien wrote about this to the BBC when they were...
So as I've been immersing myself into Tolkien much more since I rejoined this excellent forum, I've come to realise that I rely more and more just on what I think of as the 'canonical' works - by which I mean the books published by Tolkien himself.
I'd actually go so far as to think that I may...
I'm sure you all know and have played bfme 2 game. On the internet, some people say that bfme 2 game is based on canon and true stories for the good campaign mode. Some people say that the battles and events in the game are fictional. Do you think the good campaign scenario of this game can be...

There are 2 wars that are stated to be in the war of the ring on the site in the link. I couldn't find any other information on the internet that these 2 wars took place. Any chance it's in...
Just a general curiosity as to how people view the literature as a whole, "bones" and all.
I suspect some look at it for what it is, a story with contradictions, that evolved over time and many square pegs going into round holes. Perhaps appreciating it as purely a legendary work of fiction...
On this site, someone wrote the war of wrath in the most detailed way. I wonder if this article is canon? are these stuff written by tolkien himself? Or is it fiction made by a fan?

Some members of the forum do not see Dagor Dagorath as canon because Dagor Dagorath was removed from the script by Christopher. Just because of this, it is not accepted for Turin to kill Melkor. friends, dagor dagorath is canon in my opinion. because it was removed from the story not by Tolkien...
As you all know, Turin fights in the war of wrath in the prophecy of Andreth. But is this prophecy canon? Is this prophecy really included in the story?
Tolkien sure wrote about these characters in some of his material: Finwë's daughters Findis (Fingolfin's older sister), Irimë (Finarfin's older sister) and Fingolfin's son Argon (Aredhel's little brother).
Do you consider these as a part of the canon material or not?
The Silmarillion mentions...
Hi, so I've just discovered this website (can already tell i will be spending a LOT of time on here). So my question, does Talion actually exist in the story of Middle Earth? Or are there any base characters like him?
Thanks:)
On another thread earlier I asked whether the History of Middle Earth books were canon. It was suggested it was not.
It got me wondering is the Silmarillion canon? At the end of the day it was comprised and put together by Christopher Tolkien and not JRR Tolkien himself.
I also read somewhere...
Just wondering are the stories in the History of Middle Earth canon?
In the Book of Lost Tales, we have Eriol who travels to Tol Eressea. Did this really happen? Wouldn't the Valar be extremely angry for outsiders to come to Valinor?
Ok i don't know if all you tolkienites use that phrasing or if my Trekieness is coming through but i was reading The Silmarillion today(for the first time) and I remembered the story of Tuor from The Book of Unfinished Tales (Which i actually read first stupid me). So i glaced over the story...
