children of hurin

Opening a discussion place dedicated to this lay. Having a hard time finding the rhythm and musicality of the verses. However, it's a nice refresher on these epic tales. What do you all think of it? Update: I feel the story is more fast paced...

I find this story probably the most complete and well defined in the Silmarillion. I didn't like it, too depressing and nothing good comes out of it. Everything else has a tragic moment but something good results from it. The dead of Fingolfin proved that Morgoth wasn't beyond harm. The...

Who's death in the Children of Hurin do you find the saddest? There was originally a poll with different names of characters who die in TCoH alongside with this. I think it got lost when this thread was moved to a different forum. Is there a way to restore it? If not that's fine. I originally...

I am reading and loving The Children of Húrin and have just read the superb chapter three including the debate between thrall Morgoth 🤣 and Húrin. This section read literally suggests Morgoth effectively made Húrin immortal albeit only in theory and goes against my understanding of the usual...

So Tolkien always intended for his stories to have been written by characters in universe however as far as I know the Hobbit which in universe is named ''There and Back again by Bilbo Baggins'' is the only book who's in universe author we know, hench why there can be two versions of the...

I recently finished re-reading The Children of Hurin recently and was just thinking about it! While Turin’s story is really quite saddening- while Tolkien often writes of wars, deaths, and tragedies, I feel that The Children of Hurin was a bit different. While The Fall of Gondolin is also quite...

Me personally I would like to make Children of Húrin film. As far as casting I would like for Glaurung to be voiced by David Underwood becasue all tho I am afraid of posting any audio do to this forums policy regarding copyright and even adult material he has a perfekt villain voice for a...

I saw there was a movie thread, but given that high budget long running TV Shows are extremely popular these days, I think the content of Children of Hurin is much better to suited to one of these. Given there is a great length of time that passes in the book, and the huge amount of content...

Hi guys, I'm about to begin my 6th read of The Silmarillion and I've been toying with the idea of incorporating The Children of Hurin with my reading of The Sil. Put another way, replace the chapter dealing with Hurin in The Sil, with the Hurin book. I've read the Children of Hurin only once...

so what do u guys think? should PJ (or some one else) make a film about the sil or about the children of hurin, or would it be not such a good idea? tell me what u guys think!

After The Hobbit, do you want to see 'The Children of Hurin' to be adapted as a movie?

I just thought i would like to find out which book out of the children of hurin and the silmarillion everybody liked best. feel free to explain why. I would love to hear your opinions.;) MWAAHAAHAAHAAHAAHAA!!!!!!!

A tragic story has come to light in the UK. A set of twins, adopted separately at birth, met as adults without knowing they were related. Reuters Version of the Story I can't imagine how horrified and gutted the two must feel! Thankfully, no children were on the way or born, before...

Would the management be interested in creating a devoted section for The Children of Hurin under "The Works of JRR Tolkien'? I think there is going to be enough discussion about this new book to warrant it's own area. Better than being piled among the miscellaneous works.

Ok, I know I could order it from Amazon. However, I went to the Barnes and Noble by my job, and there wasn't a copy to be found. Has anyone (in the States) seen the book in a local bookstore? I'm just curious on the publicity. Obviously, the Tolkien fans know about it; I just thought there...

The Children of Hurin was released April 17, and hopefully will create the kind of furor that will bring back some of the old gang! (And they're already talking about making a movie or movies of it — PJ, are you sniffing the wind???) Here is an interview with Adam Tolkien (CT's son from his...

Hey guys, I just thought I'd let you know TolkienGateway.net and TolkienLibrary.com are throwing "The Children of Hurin Release Party" on April 15th-17th on irc.tolkiengateway.net There will be guests such as David Brawn from HarperCollins, Matt Blessing from Marquette University and many more...

Hi there, Everybody... By now all of you should have placed your pre-order from Amazon, Barne & Noble, or other bookstore of your choice for The Children of Hurin.:) The new book is supposed to come out in about a month. Would there be any interest in doing a chapter-by-chapter collective...
