Most of my comments here have been about references to first-age names. Now I have finished, I can mention a reference (that I forgot!) to the origin of Orcs, by Frodo.
This is consistent with the Annals of Aman and QS(I) of c.1951,and a change from the Quenta Silmarillion of 1937.

In the HarperCollins e-books 2005 50th Anniversary Edition EPub Edition March 2009 in the Index the entry for Cirith Ungol includes [...] (..., Nameless Pass) and the entry for Nameless Pass says "see Cirith Ungol"

Everybody gets upset when they hear that Frodo went to Cirith Ungol. But what other options did he have? He couldn't go through the Gate, and any path going to Mordor was heavily guarded.
Does this strike a resemblance with the stone sentinels of the Tower of Cirith Ungol ?
Is it possible that these were Drúedain corrupted by Sauron?
