This thought came to me recently during my current re-read of the Trilogy. It is mentioned by Gloin to Frodo during their time at the Hall of Fire in Rivendell that a messenger of Sauron came to Dain and the Dwarves of the Lonely Mountain and attempted to barter with him for knowledge of Bilbo...
I was watching Fellowship of the Ring and in the Council of Elrond scene, after Gimli tries to destroy the ring, there are 7 shards left around the ring. Could this possibly be a reference to the 7 rings of power given to the dwarves?
Is there any mention of the names of the dwarves that got rings of power from Sauron? also were they all longbeards who got the rings or were they from different clans also?
What the **** did sauron get from the dwarven rings?
The question is simple
What the **** (edited for language content. RD) did sauron get from the dwarven rings?
and please don't spout out trash about their lust for gold!!!
Was sauron trying to make wraths out of the dwarves and elves...
