elven rings

Tolkien picked Blue, Red, and White for the color of the 3 unsullied Elven Rings. Given Tolkien did much of what he did based on 'associative meaning,' what crosses your mind as his potential reason for choices of the colors of the rings? Many possibilities exist here. Just curious to see...

three rings It's interesting the poem says "Three rings for the Elven Kings..." when the initial bearers of the rings were Gil-galad and Galadriel; just one Elven King and one princess(?).

I think that i read somewere that Celebrimor made his 3 rings in an effort to better the works of his grandfather Curufinwe. Is that true. Also did he made one ring for one Silmaril. Hmmmm.
