Well a certain Lady Elf at least
"the Lady Galadriel is above all the jewels that lie beneath the earth!"
"it is enough for me to have seen the Lady of the Galadhrim, and to have heard her gentle words
and
"to name a single strand of your hair, which surpasses the gold of the earth as the stars...
Hi all,
Remember the LOTR storyline: Gimli and Legolas were as un-friendly as Dwarves and Elves traditionally were until they truly found each other in Lothlórien after which they became inseparable friends.
Rowing out the Silverlode into the Anduin and heading south, Gimli made the following...
'We will come', said Imrahil; and they parted with courteous words.'That is a fair lord and a great captain of men,' said Legolas. 'If Gondor has such men still in these days of fading, great must have been its glory in the days of its rising'.'And doubtless the good stone-work is the older and...
I have some discontinuities in my mind about Moria. Perhaps someone can set me clear.
I understand that during the time of Beleriand, Moria was an amazing place for dwarves. I'm confused on the fall of Moria.
Gimli tries to persuade Gandalf to leading the party into Moria, and goes on to say...
In the Appendix in ROTK, it mentions how after the death of Aragorn, Legolas builds a ship to finally travel West to Valinor and leave ME. It also mentions that it is said that his long-time friend Gimli accompanied him.
It was my understanding that the only mortals who were ever allowed...
As far as I can recall, all the dwarves we meet throughout the books are mountain dwellers.
Why the need to add 'of the mountain-race', rather than simply have 'dwarf though he was'?
Can you easily imagine some 'divisions' of dwarves living in lowlands or even forests, rather than mountains?
Lord of the Rings, Farewell to Lórien:
HoME XII, Morgoth's Ring, The Shibboleth of Fëanor:
Is it only me who think that it is rather amazing to imagine how Galadriel willingly gave three hairs to Gimli the Dwarve, who only asked for one hair, while she gave none to Fëanor who asked for three...
This must have been discussed before, so please feel free to redirect me, but what do people think happened to Gimli? He was never a ring bearer, so was was the point in him sailing off with Legolas?
I thought it might be interesting to dispell some of the claims I've heard that pj made gimli is a one dimensional clown. Lets make a list of all his scenes and put that claim to the test. It would be helpful if we list them chronologically. (in the order that they appear in the movies)
I'll...
All right, traditionally in Gondor, the in coming king would take the crown from the hands of his dead-dying (I forget which) father.
This was impossible for Aragorn so, in the book, Faramir was just going to give it to him, but Aragorn requested Frodo brings the crown to him and Gandalf places...
Gimli, son of Glóin represents friendship and companionship within the Fellowship, and remained so even after it was broken. Whether this Dwarf is tending a fire, rambling of the wonders of Moria, slaying Orcs at Helm's Deep, or smoking a relaxing pipe in Isengard, he is always portrayed as a...
In the LOTR books, Gimli does not wear a helm until he is given one in Edoras.
Yet in the movies, he wears one for the entire journey.
Just another minor 'error' in PJ's movie that I spotted.:)
Believe me, I wondered a lot of time where to open this small thread and I finally decided that the film-section is the most appropriate. After all it is all about a brief report I posted for the OneRing Net with some fresh news about John Rhys-Davies.
How could I NOT provide the same...
