I always thought that this was a rather abrupt and harsh conversation between these two, even given Gimli's love for Galadriel. I just found out that (as usual, actually) Tolkien gives us a reason for this elsewhere:
Gotta love Fram's style.
Has anyone ever stopped to think about how great a gift Gimli got from Galadriel?
These hairs were the fairest of all Elves--they had the light of the two trees. Feanor DREAMED of a strand of her hair. And Galadriel gives THREE of them to a DWARF. What do you think drove Galadriel to give...
It says that the Undying Lands are not reachable by a mortal.
Frodo and Bilbo made it and were allowed to stay b/c they had been ring bearers and had the consent of the elves and Gandalf.
How did Samwise make it though? Didn't he go by himself when Rosie died? How did he get there? He's a...
I know this isn't a very meaningful topic, but it really been bothering me whether anyone else has seen this. In the CoE scene (in FOTR) Gimli says "I will be dead before I see the Ring in the hands of an Elf." If you pause it during/right after he says 'elf', you can see a big glob/string of...
Since PJ has messed it up so much why not give Gimli a Bow and have him ride a small pony just for the heck of it. Yeah and lets (just for the heck of it) have PJ destroy the ring and become king (but 1st he'll have to become a charactor that can fly though walls and be invincable. Oh yeah and...
One of my problems with Jackson's movie is the completely ineffectual portrayal of Gimli. During my first viewing of FOTR on opening night in the theater I was appalled at how completely wimpy he looked in action.
After viewing the movie a half dozen times I have to say it doesn't get any...
Later on at Helm's Deep Gimli speaks to Eomer...
Was this a lie to prevent Gimli from having to talk about what happend back by the river? Was it just forgetfulness on his part? If so, would't Legolas have corrected him? Was this a simple mistake by Tolkien? Or was it something different?
I would like to know facts about both of these characters...preferably in pairs(as in one for gimli and one for legolas...like both last names or fathers names or wepons used or lines spoken....anything)
just for fun im makeing a comparison chart.....and in need the help of all yall...you guys...
Did u think?
I was reading TTT and I was kinda scared when they were battiling and they couldn't find Gilmi. I mean Gilmi isn't all bad and he did save The king. I was kinda scared, how 'bout u guys?
What do you think that happened to Legolas and Gimli after they left the Middle earth. I can't find any information about that. Can someone tell me or even quess what happened to them. All I know is that they sailed away after Aragorn died.
