hobbit movie

Well. (sniff.) I don't see this has a thread of its own, though there's a lot of trivia everywhere scattered about. But as the Lord of the Rings has its own trivia thread, maybe this can have one? Anyway, I found it interesting Peter Jackson based his Rhosgobel Rabbits on the Flemish Giants...

Hello everyone, this is my first thread. Anyone knows the plant that was actually used in the Lotr or Hobbit movies as Athelas? I even started a stackexchange thread on this topic and in a few hours there are already a bunch of people trying to figure it out from the pictures, but if anyone has...

I found a rendition of The Hobbit that in my opinion is better than the trash PJ made...enjoy

I'm a big Glorfindel fan and it really bugs me how Arwen stole his role in the FOTR movie... so maybe Peter Jackson will be nice enough to include him in The Hobbit?? He IS one of the most powerful elves in ME after all so he should be part of the battle where the White Counsel drives the...

Seems like the shooting will start late february or early march...or whenever PJ gets on hes feet again : Questions : If they starts shooting soon, does that mean that the casting is all over? Are they keeping some of the characters secret? I will investigate further...... The...

Just for completeness, I feel that The Tolkien Forum should somewhere mention the first ever Hobbit movie: The first film adaptation of The Hobbit was created by Gene Deitch in 1966. The film was produced by Bill Snyder and took less than a month to create. The film was approximately 12...

One clearly see's the difference in style Tolkien used when writing the Hobbit, a lighter, less intense, jaunt to the big Dragon as oppose to the much harsher, grim trek to destroy the Ring in the LoTR. I wonder then if Tolkien had an opportunity to rewrite the Hobbit, would he have made his...

Hey friends, With all the talk of a hobbit movie and my re-viewing of the lord of the rings movie, I'm worried about a hobbit movie. In Lord of the rings movie, Tom Bombadill is entirely omitted. To me the barrow-wights and Tom Bombadill are the epitome of the mysterious nature of Middle...

Though it looks pretty certain that PJ won't be the one to direct the beloved LOTR "prequel", let's discuss this anyway. Based on the changes he implemented in the three LOTR movies, what do you think he would have done with the Hobbit? And which parts do you think could be omitted (if...

Just for fun, I decided to work out how I would shoot the Hobbit, if I was the director. This would be for an expanded (and probably less child-like) Hobbit. What do you think??!:D ---------------------------------------------------------- (1) Prologue: Saruman narrating, looking in the...

Hey I don't know how true this is, but some guy from my class at my college said that PJ said he bought the movie rights to the Hobbit and the Sil on disc 2 of the extended version of FotR, in the director commentary. Can anyone validate this? I haven't had a chance to listen to it.

http://www.theadvertiser.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5936,8322153%255E912,00.html New Line owns the Movie Rights to The Hobbitt, but United Artists owns the distribution rights for some stupid reason. So unless UA and New Line can come to an agreement, looks like all we'll have is that...

I was just wondering if anyone has heard if PJ is gonna make a movie of "The Hobbit"--first he said he wasn't, now (recently) he said that he wants to. Any in4mation anyone has is welcome. ;)

People.........go here Yahoo! News Brief: The Hobbit I don't really think I need to say more than is said in this article. But does anyone else find the mention of Arwen being in the movie peculiar?
