I want to open a topic that some people discussed in this forum a long time ago. Many Tolkien readers say that the Third Age is a period of collapse for all kingdoms. If so, why are there more orcs in the Siege of Gondor than in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad? And why is the number of soldiers 10,000 in...

Looks promising. Grand strategy game based on the medical period. Over 360 factions to choose from and 14 player MP.
Hello all! This section of the forum was brought to my attention and I figured I'd make a topic about something I'm rather excited about. If you're familiar with Mount and Blade mods, you might know there was a Lord of the Rings overhaul in the original game that was very popular and quite...

This is what I got:
Valinor
You would be best suited to live in Valinor, the equivalent of 'heaven' in Tolkien's lore. It's a land of peace, inhabited by the Valar, the...
Hi guys, I don't know if it has been shared on the forum or forum wiki before. But I wanted to unite and explain all beleriand regions in one topic. If I have forgotten anything, let me know and I will add it later. I have listed the kingdoms according to their size from largest to smallest. I...

Which one is your favorite, mine is Nargothrond. Finrod Felagund is one of my favorite characters in the Silmirillion and Nargothrond only fell after he died in Tol-in-Gaurhoth. Gondolin stayed secret longer and so it survived longer and got stronger.
All the Kingdoms of Middle-earth portrayed in the 6 movies, Dwarves of Erebor, Rohan, Gondor, High Elves, Silvan Elves, Isengard, Mordor, Harad and Rhûn
We are all asking it; we're all thinking it. How did two powerful kingdoms come into being in 100 years, all from 9 ships?
First of all, how could Anarion hold back Sauron's might with just the contents of 5 ships?
Let us first examine the facts.
1. The Numenoreans were incredibly skilled...
The Silmarillion covers three ages. Of these, where would you dwell if you had your choice?
Myself, I think Cirdan's realm was the least bothered by Melkor/Sauron save for just a few times. It would seem to be a peaceful place. But for some reason, Khazad-dum really catches my interest and...
Okay, I was rereading last night and saw something that got me wondering:
from The Fellowship of the Ring (Chapter 8: Fog on the Barrow-Downs):
...The dark line they had seen was not a line of trees but a line of bushes growing on the edge of a deep dike with a steep wall on the further...
This has probably been addressed, as it appears to me to be a simple continuity problem, but I was noticing when watching the EE yesterday (it is apparent in the regular films too, but as the Mouth of Sauron scene is absent, not quite so blaring) that when Aragorn and his company approach the...
