As an excercise, I thought I would take the two story worlds that I enjoy thinking about the most (Tolkien's Middle Earth and My Little Pony's Equestria) and see how many similarities I can find.
1. Dragons
Although many fantasy works have dragons in them of some distinction, it must be noted...
This chapter could be called Mr Pippin goes to Minas Tirith as our wide-eyed hero reacts to the strange wonders of the capital of Gondor. We get brief glimpses of the ride of Shadowfax from Isengard with a brief stopover at Edoras - rather like being in an overnight sleeper and waking up...
I understand this is highly subjective but i'd like your take, personally I like the battle of Helms Deep more, despite it arguably being a less important battle in the grand scheme of things, cinematography wise i'd say it's better in every way.
Some of my reasons:
More practical effects, cgi...
I really like the idea of a city/fortress, where it has rings of walls going up a mountain. Minis Tirith would be a fantastic feat of engineering and a nightmare to siege (assuming you had enough men to man it).
The historical city of Ecbatana, once the capital of the Medes, as well as Sus and a...
The jug Pippin uses to replace the palantír in Gandalf's arms in Edoras bears a striking resemblance to the jug he later uses in Minas Tirith to pour Gandalf some water.
Even if it's a different prop (the markings are similar, but not quite identical), I was surprised to find the same pottery...
Found it after reading Prince Valiant:

Hello,
Is this is the right place to discuss about Tolkien and his creations?
I hope this forrum is active because I am an old fan of Tolkien since childhood, and I would like to discuess about several issues, for example this question I asked myself when reading LOTR at the last time (I do it...
Okay, first off, you must realize Tolkien only gave a few definite numbers for the Siege of Gondor/Battle of Pelennor Fields. But he did leave hints that we can figure out, which I hope to do here. I have here many quotes for our use and my arguments as to numbers at the battle.
-200 Axe men...
Saw ROTK last night at Mindnight, and I gotta say the Minas Tirith battles is the best Ive seen EVER on screen...... the Nazgul, the Oliphaunts, the charge of the Eorlingas, the death of the Witch King, etc.
The only thing I wish had been included is the meeting and the dialogue between...
I just wonder...
If Frodo had taken the Ring to Minas Tirith instead of 'screwing himself up' and going straight to Mordor, would it really have been taken from him?
Gandalf says that the blood of Numenor runs nearly true in Denethor, and it does also in Faramir. So from this we can draw...
I got the TTT DVD yesterday and on the ROTK preview, there were some glimpses of the halls of Minas Tirith.
I didn't imagine it to be so clean cut and shiny (The stone, that is)
It looks suprisingly modern
What did everyone else think?
Also, what do you think Pelennor Fields will be like...
Gandalf knew and was allies with Aragorn before the Lord of the Rings took place, was he not? For 45 years Gandalf knew Aragorn, and therefore would probably know his lineage and importance.
With that being established, why do you think Gandalf didn't influence Aragorn to go to Minas Tirith...
I remember in the book, the battle at gondor was so much longer than Helms deep. I expect it to be much better but yet, not as good. in a sense that helms deep was at night and right b4 the battle thunder and lightning happened then rain fell. I thought that was genious. I can not remember if...
