misty mountains

I feel like there's more than a little irony in the fact that Melkor raises the Misty Mountains to hinder the riding of Oromë; then ages later Sméagol carries the One-ring of Sauron to the roots of those very mountains to eventually be discovered by the unlikeliest of heroes.
