necromancer

Would you guys have liked to see Gandalfs journey to confront the Necromancer, then finding Thrain II? I know Tolkien had no concrete plans for LOTR (and consequently the change that the Necromancer is secretly Sauron), but in hind sight would that have been an enjoyable chapter or two? Or...

Who is the necromancer in the hobbit movie?

Where can I read about the Necromancer? I don't know much about him (it?) but the topic interests me.

There is mention of the "necromancer" and the necromancers lair at the beginning of the hobbbit, in chapter 1, when gandalf mentions where he attained Thorins grandfathers map. All of the dwarves Shudder at the mention of it and its lair. There is also mention of it at the end of the book...

I wonder what shape Sauron had assumed as the Necromancer. I always got the feeling that he was acting as a Sorcerer, the way Gandalf described him. Wouldn't that mean that he could take up physical form? Or was the Necromancer just an entity of Mirkwood? Any ideas?

there is this one thing that's i don't get. it says that Gandalf was busy driving away the Necromancer (who is Sauron)...but how can he, wasn't sauron not yet in power during the time of the Hobbit? or did Tolkien mean the forces of Sauron? reem

Is Sauron a Necromacer? I was looking through the Index in the back of The Return of The King and saw 'Necromancer', right next to the word it says 'see Sauron', I never heard of Sauron bieng a Necromancer, so my question is, is Sauron really a Necromancer?

What is the necromancer I was reading the haobit and was just wondering who the necromancer is and why if he is so powerful, is he not mentioned in the lotr.

Sauron, referred to in 'The Hobbit' as the 'Necromancer' occupied Dol Guldur whilst Bilbo was in Mirkwood. Imagine if Sauron had captured Bilbo? He would have obtained the One Ring and LotR would have never taken place, except if it was the point of view of Sauron.

I know this may sound kind of stupid, but I have a question about the Necromancer. First of all, if the Necromancer is in fact Sauron, then why was he destroyed (or at least accounted for at that time) so easily? I mean if you think of how much of a fight he put up in LotR, then you think he'd...

Ok, the Necromancer was Sauron and at that time he lived in Dol Goldur. But, Gandalf says he and his order went and beat him back, then the Necro went back to Mordor. My questions are was he in physical form? and how could the Order beat him back so easily? I can only sort of answer my...
