radagast

In the Council of Elrond (and elsewhere?) we learn that Radagast had left Mirkwood at that time, and is apparently an itinerant wizard on horseback like Gandalf. This is likely to be because of Sauron's move from Dol Guldur to Mordor, but is that reason given by Tolkien in any of his writings...

Did he go into the west, or did he eventually just lose his marbles?

I had the great privilege yesterday to meet Sylvester McCoy and chat with him for a quick moment. He portrayed Radagast in The Hobbit (and more importantly the 7th Doctor). I was thinking, most people brush over Radagast's appearance in the Hobbit by only voicing their disappointment in his...

I have a strong memory from my first reading of The Hobbit of the adventures meeting Radagast, surrounded by wildlife. I have not found this any any subsequent reading. Was this only in an early addition? Is my memory faulty, or am I going mad? 🤔

Beorn said radagast was not bad for a wizard, so they must have met, but where?

I just finished a reread of the hobbit and it did not mention much about Radagast's modes of transportation. Is there a menation on LOTR or any other works of how he trevled? I would assume by horse.

What happened to radagast after the war of the ring?

So we know radagast did not return to the west. Wilt thou learn the lore || that was long secret of the Five that came || from a far country? One only returned. || Others never again —J.R.R Tolkien I think he might have been killed by the nine. Gandalf at the council of elrond says last he...

This is a quote from a fan letter from W H Auden to J R R Tolkien. Auden went on: "I hoped we would meet him again". Auden wrote the letter from Berlin in 1955 on notepaper headed "Hotel Continental". He had just read a proof copy of LOTR for review. I came across this reading the catalogue of...

My interest in the Istari continues. “a worthy wizard, a master of shapes and changes of hue... and he has much lore of herbs and beats” a “friend of all beats and birds” -Gandalf “indeed, of all the istari, one only remained faithful.... for Radgast, the fourth, become envenomed of the...

What would LotR have looked like if Radagast and his Roscobel Rabbits had made it onto the set? The story had begun to grow darker by then. Where could PJ have introduced this bouncy, jovial creation; liaising with Saruman, meeting Gandalf near Bree, spreading Gandalf's news to the birds and...

Just for fun, since we don't know, but isn't it odd. Radagast isn't telling Treebeard anything. The eagles aren't telling Treebeard anything. Gandalf could find out from Tommy if either were willing to broach the subject. The ladies didn't likely choose the old forest, cuz the point was that...

What happened to Radagast? Did he fail? He just kinda dropped out of the story when his dwelling near Mirkwood was found abandoned.

What do you think became of Radagast?

What happened to Radagst? We was mentioned once in the Hobbit, and was not mentioned again in LOTR after he came to Gandalf with a message from Saruman. Did Saruman kill him? Surely that would have been mentioned, don't you think? Did he decide he wanted none of the War and hide somewhere...

What about Radagast? Had Radagast not travelled into Fangorn...ever...Or was he more of an animal guy?

What do you think happened to Radagast the Brown? What do you think happened to Radagast the Brown after the events of the Lord of the Rings?
