rivendell

Here's mu attempt to portray the valley of Rivendell Any comments?

In The Hobbit, when Torin's company approaches the Misty mountains, even Gandalf had a problem finding the location of Rivendell. The dwarves did not see anything out of the ordinary in those areas that would indicate that there was any settlement there. Is it possible that Ulmo showed Elrond...

I ummmmed and ahhhhhhed for a long time... I haven't owned a LEGO set in years but I couldn't stop thinking about this one, which I think is stunning. Here tis'! Display case is from here. Anyone else got any LOTR LEGO sets from over the years? Would love to see them, I never collected any...

My 11-year-old so has read The Hobbit and has recently started FOTR and the questions are rolling in. He loves the military aspects of Middle-earth and wanted to know who would win in a war the elves under Thraduril, or Elrond. He had clearly put a lot of thought into the question and he listed...

Yeah, even Captain-classes personnel, like Boromir and Faramir could be noticed only through dreams. Are there any other sources to describe Rivendell classified level, authorized by JRRT? It's obvious at least before Saruman begun to get absent from the White Council, Gondor might have already...

I made this Rivendell music & ambience video for everyone that loves that place and wants to be there, you will hear waterfall sounds, birds and beautiful music so you can be exactly there! "Everything is peaceful, no evil is present here in Rivendell...you can hear the waterfall sounds in the...

It has been some time since I last read LOTR so the answer might be in front of me [when they reach Rivendell?] but the chapter "flight to the ford" it says three riders were sent by Elrond to find Aragorn and the Hobbits. One was sent north, another south and one west. We know of course...

This is a foolish inconsistency that has always nagged at me. In Book 1 Chapter 10 ("Strider"), we read: "Weathertop?" said Sam. "What's that?" "It is a hill [said Strider], just to the north of the Road, about half way from here [Bree] to Rivendell..." Then in Chapter 11 ("A Knife In The...

I found this video with Christopher Tolkien and thought you'd all find it interesting! Christopher starts speaking around 3:47. From the description:

In the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings movie, in Rivendell, there are many mural paintings. I remember in the Lord of the Rings Extended Edition DVD, you could actually view these. But I cannot find it on the DVD edition (there are hours of material). Can anyone direct me to the DVD where I can...

Good-den! So, we know that following the destruction of the One Ring at the end of the Third Age, Elrond's ring lost its power and he tired of Middle-earth. Thus at the beginning of the Fourth Age, Elrond, and many of his household, left Rivendell to sail for Valinor from the Grey Havens...

Follow the Fellowship: Part II From Rivendell to Lothlórien Welcome to Follow the Fellowship! In this thread we will explore Frodo & co.'s journey from Rivendell to Lothlórien. At the same time, we will track what is happening with Gandalf (post-Bridge) as well. Because we use many different...

Follow the Fellowship: Part I From Hobbiton to Rivendell Welcome to Follow the Fellowship! In this thread we will explore Frodo & co.'s journey from Hobbiton to Rivendell. At the same time, we will track what is happening with Gandalf and Glorfindel as well. Because we use many different...

this is a strange little episode, the Elves in Rivendell are described as silly and frivolous even... as opposed to the Mirkwood Elves who are proud and noble and even fierce. It doesn't really fit in with what Tolkien elsewhere talks about Elves, them being all noble and fair and wise... why...

I'm not sure how you spell it-is it Rivendell?-The home of "Elrond" In the Ext. version of the 1st. film in Rivendell, when, was it Boromir?-He wanted so much to take the ring from the table; he almost touched it when "Gandalf" stood up and started speaking the Black Speech of Mordor in front of...

hi, I try to build a scene in rivendell in 3d on computer. my greatest problem are the building, because I have no reference, except a 800X600 poster. so it would be great if somebody has, detailded pictures of the buildings and the whole area. or maybe the modell itself thanx anyway

Does anybody have heard of the Tolkien Ensemble? Well, they are a Danish band wich wants to select songs and poems from Tolkien's work. This is the third CD. And I must say the two composers are good, Christopher Lee is himself as narrator and singer (brilliant.I'm still shaking.), and I found...

should Glorfindel have carryed frodo to Rivendell? In another topic that i started about the new ROTK game a person says that Glorfindel should have carryed frodo to Rivendell. I want to get everyones opinion on this topic. 1- Yes 2- No 3- Who cares?

I've found it for a mac but I don't exactly have one that isn't collecting dust.
