Was 🧙Saruman really 'stripped' of his powers?

Related to my other thread - here's why I ask... We are repeatedly told that Saruman how little left save his oratory skills - his power to influence and trick and conive thru voice... Tolkein mentions it as if to say this is but a minor triffle of a 'power' and of little import or concern...

    🧙Gandalf's promotion vs Saruman's demotion ... ?

My impression was that the Istari had a sort of cardinality or rank based on 'color' w/ white at the top and then gray and so on... GIven that, when Gandalf came back he was essentially 'promoted'. A) At what point is Saruman essentially demoted or stripped of his 'white wizard' status...

The word 🧙Saruman said in FOTR again...

What was the other word that Saruman used in maybe the Extended FOTR, where he is talking to the Leader Orc; I don't know, did it start with an O??? "Now you serve...." Oruky???, Brouky??? I don't know....What does that mean? Thank you & Happy New Year!

What 🧙Saruman exactly said in FOTR, & Merry Christmas...

In FOTR when Saruman was speaking to the orcs before they set out to find the band of 9, or 8 without Gandalf, what exactly did he say? (In the movie) He was saying: "You don't know fear, you don't know pain, you will taste.......!" Did he say "Vengence", or did he say "Something flesh", or did...
  5. Saddam: 👁️Sauron, 🧙Saruman or Lotho?

I was wondering which evil LotR character people would most equate with Saddam Hussein. Is he the evil despot like Sauron, a weaker wannabe like Saruman or a hapless small guy playing big, like Lotho Sackville-Baggins? Maybe you think he's like someone else? What are the reasons for...
  6. 🧙Saruman - the unanswered questions.

Alrightio, time to ask these questions of you. Most of this is based on Gandalf's account of what happened to him when Saruman took him spoken at the Council of Elrond. So, here are the questions. We know that Saruman is a cunning Maia, capable of great treachery which is what we see in tFOTR...
  7. 🧙Saruman in ROTK, or not!

A TTT EE extra says that ROTK will begin with the Saruman confrontation, and gives a shot from it, which looks excellent. Recently there have been reports here that Saruman will not appear at all in the film. Which is correct?!
  8. 🧙Saruman not in ROTK

I've just read on Christopher Lee's site that Saruman would not have a single scene in ROTK. Does anyone know if that's really official? Sorry I can't write properly, it's driving me mad. Oh could they do that??? :(

    🧙Saruman in the Shire

At the end of the War of the Ring, Gandalf sent the hobbits back to the Shire on their own, knowing they had a bit of "cleaning up" to do, but thinking they had grown enough to handle it themselves. Do you suppose he realized that Saruman himself was there? Would he have knowingly sent the...
  10. Why did 🧙Saruman turn Evil?

I suppose there might be a thread about that question yet, but I couldn't find it so I'm starting one. (Well, I think it's something like that) Does anybody know? I'm quite sure he was thinking of his own interests when he decided that the Council of Nine should not look for the Ring. And...
  11. 🧙Saruman's end

Does anybody know what PJ is going to do with Saruman? He's not even in the trailer. (Maybe he's a big fan, but...) What will be cut and what won't? Can we expect at least to see the "voice of Saruman" chapter? (In TTT) I feel that soon I'll start getting bored with Arwen. Strange.

    🧙Saruman gone bad, why?

Saruman gone bad What do you suppose it was that pushed Saruman to the dark side?? The Valar must have had faith in him or he never would have been assigned his mission. Was it his trip into the East?? Didn't two Istari besides Saruman travel into the East?? They were never heard from again...

    🧙Saruman's Choice

What would have happened if Saruman had decided to help the Free Peoples and Gandalf?
  14. How much did 🧙Saruman know?

Just how much did Saruman know of the movements of the Fellowship from Rivendell to the breaking at Parth Galen? How did he manage to send his orcs to the right spot (Parth Galen) at the right time? Was he only guessing/making a logical deduction of the path the Fellowship would take, or did...
  15. 🧙Saruman and Narya

From Unfinished Tales: The Istari: I am assuming Saruman knew of Gandalf's possession of Narya at the time of the LOTR, since it says that 'after a time he became aware of this gift'. Why didn't Saruman wrest Narya from Gandalf during Gandalf's imprisonment in Orthanc? Did Gandalf not...
  16. 🧙Saruman's ring

I just read something interesting in The Council of Elrond which I had forgotten: Gandalf said: And later Saruman said: I would guess that Saruman fashioned his own ring, but what were its properties? Did he pour some of his own power into it like Sauron did when he forged the One...

What happens to 👁️Sauron & 🧙Saruman after their defeat?

Both Sauron and Saruman were Maiar. Can they be killed? Are they dead, or are they spirits without shape, unable to create a new form, and unable to cause any more trouble? Melkor could not be killed and had to be locked outside the confines of the world. I have not read anything yet about...
  18. 🧙Saruman's poison

From The King of the Golden Hall: What do you think this poison is? Just a metaphore for ill advice? Why would Theoden hearken to, and fall under the influence of, an ordinary man? Or is it real poison, some sorcery brewed by Saruman? How was it applied to Theoden then?
  19. 🧙Saruman's End....?

I was going to post a poll, but I don't want to inhibit imagination. With the demise of "The Scouring of the Shire", Saruman will have to meet a different end. Or maybe he will survive! Post your version of Saruman's End below. How about: It is late evening. Frodo and Sam are just...
  20. 🧙Saruman The Wizard Killer?

As you all know, Alatar and Pallando arrived in Middle-earth dressed in sea-blue. For this reason, they were together given the name Ithryn Luin, the Blue Wizards. With Saruman, they journeyed into the far east of Middle-earth, but while Saruman returned to the west, Alatar and Pallando did not...
