Opening up this discussion thread for anyone who might want to leave comments or ask questions regarding "The Broken Shield". A few Author's Notes and Background Info regarding this story and my writing in general: The majority of my Tolkien/Middle-earth fanfiction is uniformly anchored on...

The Broken Shield by SOTWK Summary: Thorin and Frerin, the young Princes of Erebor, rise above the grudges and prejudices of their forefathers to forge an alliance with the Elves of Mirkwood during the War of the Dwarves and Orcs. But the tenuous bonds of friendship are shattered when tragic...

I've seen quite different opinions regarding this topic, some say that he was simply a nobleman of Thingol's court while others think he is somehow related to him through one of his brothers. I don't actually remember the reasons supporting the latter but here are some of them 1. Legolas saying...

Hello! May I ask for the help of any Sindarin experts here to please check my amateurly coined words? I wanted to come up with a few titles and nicknames for Thranduil, in his role as Elvenking, and here is what I've cobbled together using Parf Edhellen: Belaith ("The Mighty" - Sindarin) --...

My best writing always seems to be in the form of a oneshot. So enjoy this little imagine I came up with on a whim! My Everything King Thranduil watched through his bed chamber balcony window. His Mirkwood Guard was training in the courtyard below. Their dark green uniforms matched his...

I would love to see some linguistically correct versions of Thranduil's name in Quenya. I only need it for a passing reference in a story I'm writing, but I've been curious for years. My research, such as it is, has taken me through the elements of his Sindarin name, tharan and tuil...

Casting was just announced by Peter Jackson on facebook. Lee Pace

hello everybody! I'm desperately looking for a map, drawing, sketch, whatever of Thranduils Palace. Does anybody know where I can find material about the wood elves of Mirkwood? Their habits, their songs... Randir Earen

I have several questions, but try to bear with me here: 1. Galadriel and Celeborn were married right? So what kind of a wife is Galadriel if she just left Celeborn in Middle-Earth? So what if her ring was fading, it doesn't mean she was. 2. Does anyone know exactyl when Celeborn left...
