Anyway, to be clear, it's not like 'I' said it as yopur quoting makes it appear
Oh yes, I fully understand that. I was very appreciative of your 'succinct list' of the '
titles' of the 8 points Shaw, the original writer, used.
(Though of course I referred back to Shaw's content, and so context, as well to be sure I was rightly grasping how far amiss the 'better' comparisons made were.)
(Bits and pieces of lore vs a complete published book) and how it all was put together into the finished product. They both have their merits and detractions, and at this point, I can't say I prefer one over the other
And this, of course, is part of the core problem with such 'comparisons'.
At the end of the day, 'nothing about them is comparative' in the kind of 'better or worse' judgment Shaw is trying to apply. (Other than perhaps one's personal preference about 'how the
Orcs look' in one vs. the other. I'm a little surprised there wasn't some remark about whose
Wargs were better or worse, and why. That would have been a 'reasonable' thing to compare...as reasonable as the Orcs anyway. And please don't ask me whose Wargs I thought were better. 😁)
By and large Shaw just selected an entirely wrong '
realm and scope' of matter within which to try to make a claim of 'better' (which by its very nature includes the concept the other is 'worse'.)
Sorry Shaw... you missed it entirely.
