Hey, I was wondering whether the history of Eregion was expanded anywhere, especially the story of Celebrimbor's war against Sauron and his subsequent loss (and death).
It isn't expanded much outside of LotR and The Sil, but you can find a couple new scraps of information about Eregion and its ruin in the part of Unfinished Tales that deals with Galadriel and Celeborn. There is also some information on Celebrimbor's death there.
If you are interested in the different ideas JRRT had at different times regarding Celebrimbor's history and ancestry check out Note 7 to Of Dwarves and Men in HoM-e 12. There you can also find out information on his name, and that it was he who named mithril. You also learn he was disgusted with his father Curufin's actions in Nargothrond, but this might be mentioned in The Sil or one of the more common books.
