[AmaldocTethralyn1984]

Hi, Everyone! I Watched War of the Rohirrim in Theaters the Day After Christmas 2024, and I thought it was Great! But, I've heard that not all critics and fans of the original books and legendarium are a fan of it, so i want to know from you: 1) Have you Seen War of the Rohirrim? and 2) What Did you think of it? Feel free to keep this thread going as long as you want, too, because i'd like lots of opinions to be posted here! Thanks, and Have a Great Day!

I saw it and thought the movie was nice and entertaining. It told a story from the appendices and wasn't too over the top with artistic license, though it seemed to blow through most of what was written on those few pages in the appendix rather quickly. They turned around the instigator of the fight by having Freca throw the first punch, which then gave the whole thing a different feeling from the original story. They did ok-ish with Haleth and Hama, but the whole shieldmaiden thing was what ... replacing Helm's sister Hild? Fréaláf got totally shortchanged in this. I also didn't understand the whole 'watcher in the water eating an oliphant' scene was about. It was a waste of screen time, but I guess they needed some filler. At the end, she didn't seem too concerned that her whole family had died. Still a fun movie to see.

My guess - lunch.

I watched, enjoyed, and even rewatched a couple of times.

I think the inclusion of the watcher in the water, the giant eagle, a few orcs, and a wizard cameo were helpful to give it that Middle-earth feel. If it were done strictly by-the-book it would be just one group of men versus another group of men (the fantasy elements would be severely lacking, IMO).

I saw it on release date in cinema. Didnt love it, but it was alright. Atleast its better than "Rings of Power"
