Hair Dye, Cloning and General Epic Chaoticness

Welcome to the Chaotic RP of TTF! This is a fun, spontaneous, lighthearted, and most importantly, chaotic RP which is available to anyone who wishes to join. While our primary goal is to have fun, we have a few rules in order to keep some method to the madness.
  • Firstly, each character belongs to their respective TTF user. In other words, you can't write for a character if someone else has claimed that character. If you're new to the thread, please ask the group which characters are available before you claim one.
  • Even though this thread is chaotic and spontaneous, we do have a storyline going. If you're new to the thread, please read the most recent few pages, or more, so you're caught up on what's going on.
  • Make sure to interact with other people's characters. Don't just go off and write your own thing without interacting with anybody.
  • Don't completely ignore or change the storyline.
  • At the same time, please be flexible if someone introduces a new turn of the plot. This is not a carefully planned RP, and it needs to have flexibility for any chaotic new thing someone comes up with (within reason-- it does need to connect to the main story at least loosely).
  • If you are writing for multiple characters, use a script format to indicate which character is speaking. Use asterisks* to denote action. For example:
    • Maitimo: *tries to shake Celeraccoon off his arm* STOP BITING ME, TYELKO!
  • Try to keep spam to a minimum. I would define "spamming" in this thread as writing more than a page over the course of a few hours. (This can be a tough one to follow, I know.) But spamming makes it hard for other people to keep up.
  • At the same time, if you're going to be absent for an extended period of time, we recommend writing your character out temporarily (such as having them disappear or go somewhere) so other people can continue while you're gone.
That's all I can think of for now. If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to ask!

Nessa: Seriously? Two Maitimos and none of them call me a sister? What is up with that?
*Both the Maitimos feel bad*

OM: I'm sorry! I have always wanted a sister. I'd love to get to know you better.

YM: I do have a sister, Fëanoriel. She was possibly the only one who... was always there for me. We've had our differences, but I know she'd never turn against me.

(@Varda Elentári , if you pop in here again any time soon, would you like to play her?)

*Jumps in Maitimo's arms when he offers him a hug*
*Maitimo wasn't expecting Tyelko to jump on him, so he stumbles a little, but regains his balance.*

My big koala. 🥺

OM: I'm sorry! I have always wanted a sister. I'd love to get to know you better.
Nessa: oh no harm done, bro. My own Maitimo was just as soft as you and, let me tell you, it didn't end well for him. Toughen up a lil.

My big koala. 🥺
*Snuggles*
You're the only Maitimo for me.🥺

*Fingon is silently horrified, not so much for what happened to his other self— though the idea of his father hating him makes him very uncomfortable— but more for knowing what this Maitimo has gone through, what he has seen. His heart aches for the pain of his brother-in-heart, even if from an alternate world, as it can clearly be seen he has been severely traumatized by it all. Knowing himself, he probably was prepared to fight the world to defend Maitimo, even if it proved ill for him.*

*Unable to find anything to say, Fingon just gives Young Maitimo a look of understanding empathy and embraces him tightly, hoping to convey his genuine concern and care for him, only pulling away when Old Maitimo asks about Aranya.*

YM: I do have a sister, Fëanoriel. She was possibly the only one who... was always there for me. We've had our differences, but I know she'd never turn against me.
Fingon: I am glad you did not have to face your troubles alone, but you had support from your sister though it all.

*He notices with a certain vague sense of uneasiness, based on Maitimo’s wording, it sounds like it was implied his other self was not always there for him, but he does not ask further about it in case it further opens a sore wound.*

Laurinalótë, after staring with a dropped kazoo: Well, there's only one solution for this. *Splits the group of herself in OM's hair and lands lightly in YM's hair, gently rubbing his curls with her soothing presence.* There, there, I may know and not know you, but this will ease you a bit.

*Yavanna and Aulë watch the proceedings quietly, allowing everyone to slowly sort it all out. After Laurinalótë begins working her calming magic on YM, Yavanna steps forward.*

Yavanna: Welcome, Maitimo the Young, to this alternate universe. You will be safe here. *Inclines her head gracefully. Aulë steps beside her.*

Aulë: You have been brought here for such a time as this, respite from your circumstances. The way between the worlds has been split for a short time, and it is not a coincidence you found your way through it. Welcome, I say to you.

Nessa: oh no harm done, bro. My own Maitimo was just as soft as you and, let me tell you, it didn't end well for him. Toughen up a lil.
*OM looks noticeably offended.* Toughen up?! *gestures vaguely to his entire scarred up body* How tough do you want me to be, exactly? Is it not good enough that 30 years of being stapled to a cliff just made me learn how to kill Orcs harder?

Aranya: I don't think she's referring to physical toughness. *She shoots Nessa a glare, though, clearly communicating, "Don't you dare try to harden my fiancé's sweet heart."*

*YM blinks back tears, suddenly taken back to the days before the rift developed between him and Finno. He thinks of how Finno believed his story when no one else would, how Finno took a blade to his hand to save Maitimo from the second murder attempt, and how he was injured attempting to protect him from the third. How he was repaid for his goodness by being framed and imprisoned for the evil deeds of the brothers, and attacked and slandered by Fëanáro and Nerdanel. Yet as much as Maitimo can't really blame Finno for refusing to forgive Fëanáro, it still fills him with some bitterness that, as usual, Maitimo had to be the bigger person by forgiving Fëanáro for unjustly imprisoning him and subjecting him to harm from the brothers as well, and yet Finno could not do the same. And this resulted in the horrific transformation of Nolofinwë from gentle and wise to wrathful and vengeful and...*

*Unable to bear reliving those memories, he tears himself away from Fingon's embrace.*
Leave me alone!

*At first, YM cringes away from the approach of Laurinalotë and tries to pull her out of his hair.* What magic is this? Is this some other poison of my brothers? Get off me!

*OM is unnerved that his younger self is scared even of flowers. Never mind the fact that OM himself screamed very loudly when Laurinalotë first spoke to him, but that was different.* Relax, kiddo, those flowers were animated to life by Yavanna. Her name is Laurinalotë, and she helps the bad memories feel... far away. Like they can't hurt you anymore.

YM: Yavanna... *He remembers the time when he and Fëanoriel took refuge in Yavanna's pastures, and he looks at her hopefully. It was one of the few peaceful moments of his recent life. The magic begins to work, and he sighs.* Forgive me, my lady, but... why have you, the Valar, let this happen? You have helped me and my sister before, kept us safe from our own murderous kin. But why has there been no end to this violent strife? Why would my own grandfather not even believe my warnings that Findekáno was in danger from his own father, when he already knew my brothers had wounded me and tried to kill me three times? My kin are corrupted with violence, and even the well-meaning older ones are apparently too incompetent to keep us safe.

Old Maitimo
OM: Hey, I'm older Maitimo, not old Maitimo. Important distinction!

*Dr. Amrod helpfully (or unhelpfully) pops in.* Then why do you have white streaks in your hair??

Curufin: Her pollen will also help you to fly, through the effort of your will alone. This means you can escape from me whenever you wish. 😉 *the smile is humorous, but born from uncertainty and some discomfort*

Curvo: *gives him an 'are you feeling quite alright?' look* You are aware of what you yourself have just been doing.

Curufin: *turns away and doubles over in pain, realising his temporary stupidity*
*kneeling on the ground, head bowed, his back to everyone* Put me out of my misery, Curvo. I don't care in the slightest if you only have a butter knife on hand, just do it.

*Unable to bear reliving those memories, he tears himself away from Fingon's embrace.* Leave me alone!
*Fingon becomes even more concerned, taken aback by this sudden show of anger over a simple embrace.* Maitimo, what’s wrong?

*He gives a glance to his Maitimo, trying to find some explanation. If anything, these random outbursts remind him of how it was for Maitimo when he was recovering from Thangorodrim, when he was frequently frightened of his surroundings because of what he had experienced and then lashed out in frustration for one reason or another. Is this a similar situation? He takes a step back to give this younger Maitimo some space, out of courtesy for his emotional instability.*

Laurinalótë, after staring with a dropped kazoo: Well, there's only one solution for this. *Splits the group of herself in OM's hair and lands lightly in YM's hair, gently rubbing his curls with her soothing presence.*
*Finno watches this with some level of amusement, as more and more people’s heads are becoming homes to this lively talking flower. He low-key wishes the flower would take a shine to him too…*

Why would my own grandfather not even believe my warnings that Findekáno was in danger from his own father, when he already knew my brothers had wounded me and tried to kill me three times?
*Fingon’s eyes widen in horror, and even Finno snaps to attention at this.*

Finno: I’m sorry, WHAT? 😳

OM: Hey, I'm older Maitimo, not old Maitimo. Important distinction!

*Dr. Amrod helpfully (or unhelpfully) pops in.* Then why do you have white streaks in your hair??
*Fingon nudges Amrod in the ribs subtly and whispers to him.* You’re not supposed to point those out.

*Dr. Amrod, speaking at normal volume because he doesn’t get the reason for the secrecy*: Why? Did Nelyo not know he has them? They make him look old! He looks like he was kissed by a troll or something!

Curufin: Her pollen will also help you to fly, through the effort of your will alone. This means you can escape from me whenever you wish. 😉 *the smile is humorous, but born from uncertainty and some discomfort*
YM: *bitterly* Oh, I would have flown away from you and everyone else long ago if I could have.

*OM, mildly concerned, gently pokes him with a stick.* You okay there?

Finno: I’m sorry, WHAT? 😳
YM: You heard me. Like I said, I failed you, brother. I'm only glad you have been spared such troubles in your world. Nolofinwë apparently loves Fëanáro more than he loves you, and your refusal to forgive him when he apologized for his grievous deeds towards you was apparently enough to make your own father hate you.

OM: Wow, thanks for that... 🙄 For your information, they're not from old age but from stress. Such as, for example, the stress from being tortured for 30 years. Also red hair doesn't turn grey, it turns white.

*OM, mildly concerned, gently pokes him with a stick.* You okay there?
Curvo: *is torn between sympathy for his fallen brother and finding the sight of this hilarious*
*it brings out his 'swallowed a lemon' look*

Curufin: *does not look up* End me, Nelyo, you saw what happened.

*Curvo shakes his head slightly, breaking himself out of the mood. He thinks he should do something about this, seeing as poor Curufin is incapacitated for the moment. He puts on his 'thoughtful' face, an unusually gentle and inquisitive one, normally reserved for when he's curled up in a blanket by himself somewhere.*

Curvo:
So, if I have understood this correctly... You there, young Nelyo, have a sister. I have a sister also. But you've seen her, they are clearly not the same. And I have one less brother than you do.
This Curufin here, the little brother of this Maedhros *gestures towards the older Nelyo*, doesn't have a sister at all. Our family situations and histories are all quite different, wouldn't you say?

Now, I understand perfectly well that the sight of certain individuals may conjure up bad memories of the past. That's entirely natural. But if there is one thing I know about my own Nelyo, it's that he is logical. It may become difficult for him to think clearly under the pressure of the burdens he must bear, but his reason wins out in the end.

If each of our families so clearly differ one from the other, I should think there is no reason to fear any of the people here present. If an individual committed a crime, would it be fair to hold it against his identical twin? I think not. You do not have to like any of us, but at the very least, in this place you may rest easy. None of us here have wished you harm, for it is the first time we have met.

*Curvo bows his head slightly, then sits down on the floor beside Curufin. However, he remains facing everyone, having no reason to turn away.*

Yavanna: Valid questions ask you. Yet say do I that your suffering has not gone without notice, and it shall not be for forever it lasts. There is a greater power at work here, and this greater power must seek to distract you and keep you from your destiny. Some of the very wise cannot tell what it might be. Yet the greater power shall be in the end triumphed by the One who is greatest.

Aulë: But for now, you are in, say, a limbo. We are both in time and out of time in this location in this universe, as has been foreseen from the beginning.

Laurinalótë, whispering to YM: They still speak in riddles, don't they?

*Meanwhile, Laurinalótë in Curufin's hair pats him gently.* There, there, Curufin. Well have you learned the art of a smile which does not eat into someone's soul!

Curvo: *is torn between sympathy for his fallen brother and finding the sight of this hilarious*
*it brings out his 'swallowed a lemon' look*
Where'd you get the lemon? Can I have some? I have an... acquired taste. *Coughs*

*Fingon is silent, and before he has a chance to respond, Curvo speaks up. He listens to Curvo’s reasoning and nods sagely in agreement.* You speak true, cousin.

*addressing YM* I am sorry so much sorrow has befallen you and your Finno, Maitimo. My heart aches to hear of the pain you have gone through. What Curvo here has said is true, though; while we are the same people, we are also different, and this means you have not failed me or this other Findekáno, brother. And, I also know these versions of Maitimo’s brothers *points to the ones present* would never do anything to harm him on purpose, so you do not have to fear them. You are safe with us, Maitimo.

Finno: And I know my cousin can seem rough around the edges, but she’s also very protective of her brother. So you can trust me when I say, there are no lengths she would not go to to protect you.

OM: Wow, thanks for that... 🙄 For your information, they're not from old age but from stress. Such as, for example, the stress from being tortured for 30 years. Also red hair doesn't turn grey, it turns white.
Amrod: I never said your hair was turning grey, Nelyo. I can clearly see those are white streaks in your hair, just as I am pretty sure I can also see faint white streaks in this younger Nelyo’s hair too. *peers closer* Yep, definitely not from old age. Do you need a relaxing massage, little Nelyo?

Where'd you get the lemon? Can I have some? I have an... acquired taste. *Coughs*
*Fingon calls over to Curvo* Spritz her with lemon water; she’ll like that.

*Fingon calls over to Curvo* Spritz her with lemon water; she’ll like that.
Curvo: *gives him a questioning/incredulous look, like: 'do I look like I carry lemons on me??'*
*then he realises he probably does look that way, given the way his face appears sometimes*

Curufin: *his curiosity has been stirred after listening to Curvo's speech, and he is somewhat impressed*
*he turns to Curvo*
Not bad, Little Curvo. I must admit I'm surprised at your eloquence in this situation. I was quite close to leaving for the forge.

Curvo: *smirks at him* I was raised by a sister you know. I'd wager I'm slyer than you are, old man.

Curufin: *quiet snort*

Curvo: *looking dignified, with a matter-of-fact tone* I know the value of a soft touch, and gentle reasoning. To more effectively contrast with and complement my sister’s feral nature, of course.

*There is a pause. Both Curufin and Curvo have unreadable expressions.*

Curvo: *smiles* I’ve even… *he comes close to Curufin’s ear and whispers into it*

Curufin: *looks three parts impressed to one part terrified*

Curvo: *nods* Not bad, huh? Anything for my dear sis.

*Amrod watches this exchange with interest then nosily butts in, calling attention to them in front of everyone without thinking.* What are you two whispering about? It must be something fascinating, judging by the change in expression on Curvo’s face. Mind you, I mean my brother Curvo, and not this other younger Curvo, who I know but don’t. Did you say you have a feral sister?

*YM stiffens at first and takes a few steps back from Curvo, but OM puts a calming hand on his shoulder. YM remains tense but stays put, figuring OM has seen some stuff, but seems to trust the brothers, so maybe they're not bad.*

*Curvo's speech makes him pause, too. It is true that if these universes are different enough that entire siblings are missing, perhaps personalities can be vastly different, too. Still, Young Maitimo has learned to err on the side of caution and not trust anyone except Fëanoriel and Fingon and the Valar, though even they have all failed him at varying points. And besides, he even saw Nolofinwë, whom he trusted, suddenly fall to darkness, so that is not outside the possibility for any of them.*

YM: I only hope this is true. *He avoids both the Finnos' gazes, wanting to trust them, but not sure if he can.*

I am pretty sure I can also see faint white streaks in this younger Nelyo’s hair too. *peers closer* Yep, definitely not from old age.
YM: What?! That can't be possible!

*He examines a lock of his hair briefly before his eyes widen. He had been so preoccupied with running for his life that he didn't notice.*

Do you need a relaxing massage, little Nelyo?
*YM finds it weird to hear Amrod call him "little Nelyo," but otherwise he seems very much like the same Amrod he knows, and he can't help but crack a slight smile.* Maybe later. *Once he's deemed them all trustworthy, if that ever happens.*

*Tyelko is now detached from OM, and is hanging out with Huan and Yaulofinwë*
Do you guys have any idea what they are talking about?
*Yaulofinwë meows*
Tyelko: yeah I thought so too.
*Hugs the cub and they start cuddling*
*YM starts at the sight of Yaulofinwë.* WHAT is that thing? Some tool of Tyelkormo's to kill me, that's for sure!
