How do the Woses (Druedain) connect to the Easterlings?

I love the story of Aghan the Drug in UT. In the further notes on the Druedain it says that a branch of the tribe accompanied the folk of Haleth at the end of the First Age. Definitely Westerlings.

Generally, 'Easterlings' constituted those who dwelt beyond the River Carnen. The Druedain, dwelt in Beleriand, Nuemnor (for a while) and in the West of M-E, in Minhiraith and Anorien spring to mind. They may also have dwelt further south, as we hear of men of the East driving away some different type of Men that sound like the Druedain, in Tal-Elmar though we don't know where exactly that tale was set, but the story mentioned seems to be a example of the Druedain being driven out of their caves. You can find out more info on the Druedain from Of Dwarves and Men (HoME 12) though a lot of the writing from that was put in a essay about the Druedain that was in Unfinished Tales

I'm with some of the others here; I believe the Woses were Westerners.

Not meaning to hijack this thread, but I have wondered a bit about the Druedain. It seems to me that, while they are considered Men, they are obviously very different. This could just be a notable expression of the variety that's inherent in human DNA, or it could be from some inter-racial breeding. Could they be the result of Man + Dwarf?

Or even the Hobbits: could they somewhere along the line have been the result of Man + Dwarf? Interesting...we know that Hobbits were considered to have been related to Men, but where would they get their shortness from? Could that too be yet another of those expressions of great variety in human DNA? Think of Neandertals...it's my opinion, and that of others, that they were not a different race from humans, but were rather just another branch of humanity, who have now died off. Kinda like the Druedain and the Hobbits; even though they looked very different from many Men, they were in fact closely related.

Curious...

Where does it say that? Elves and men could breed, but I thought the absence of dwarf-men unions was preference not biology.

Where does it say that?
Ditto. Why do you claim this? I've never even heard of this, so what's your thinking here?

For further thought, assuming Men, Dwarves, and Elves could have children together, then why not Ents and one of the other races? What would those children be like? Wierd, isn't it?

Some thing to consider when looking at the question of inter-breeding of races.

Elves - Made by Iluvatar. Known as The First born Children of Iluvatar.

Men - Made by Iluvatar. Known as The Second born Children of Iluvatar.

Dwarves - Made by Aule. Adopted Children of Iluvatar.

Hobbits - Origin Unknown.

So we know that Elves and Men can inter-breed but both of these were made by Iluvater and were of similar type. The Dwarves were made by Aule who did not know much of the Children of Iluvatar and it is very unlikely that they would be similar enough to allow for inter-breeding.

Hobbits? Make up your own mind on that. :D

Well the basic thing about that they are in essence the same race, as the children of Illuvutar, but with diffrent desires and powers of body and mind.

The Dwarves were created by Aule in remeberance of the music, he had no fixed idea as to what Illuvutar's children would look like.

Also, looking through the books for a quote that says this, I found this: (Though I suppose there are others)

Latter Quenta Silmarillion; HoME 11

The Naugrim are not of Elf-kind, or of Man kind

Elves could have children together, then why not Ents and one of the other races? What would those children be like? Wierd, isn't it?

Men mating with trees? Errrr.....

most are WOODEN and extremely LONG WINDED.
Oh yeah, that too. So they're pretty much orcish Ents, an evil and very dangerous breed. Unlike Ents, however, they don't seem to be dying off. OTOH, like orcs they do seem to appear in hoards (witness California...), there are always too many of them, and they all seem to be of the same mindset, bickering and devouring each other and destroying any good thing they can get their filthy, bloody hands on.

Yeah sure, ther is the occasional decent man who's a politician, but sadly he's a very rare entity.
