They say they come in three's... Peter Cullen has joined the list this week, as of yesterday, August 26th. 😔

I always loved his voice for Optimus Prime in the Transformers franchise; he was easily one of my favorite characters. Peter Cullen has always been the voice for Optimus for me. 🥺

Farewell, old friend. 😔

He rolled out for the last time. RIP, Peter. You always had "The Touch".

Was going to post this gif here in my previous post but decided it would be tacky. But my brother sent it in a text and it really hit me in the feels. Of course, a fictional robot can be (and was) brought back to life, no problem, but this still affected me. Optimus turning grey upon expiring has such a grim finality to it and did even when I first saw the movie in the theater forty years ago, and the kid's grief seems so real. It kind of took on a profound meaning seeing it in this context. Also, Peter Cullen was born in the same year as my mother, whom I lost last October.

I'm sorry to hear of your mom's passing last year, Radaghast. 😔

I know Transformers: The Movie is supposed to be re-released in theaters as a special event next month for its 40th anniversary. I've heard of how strongly Optimus' death affected viewers back when the movie first premiered, and now I'm curious how people will react to it in light of Peter Cullen's passing. I'd imagine this will spark many people to go see the movie in his honor (and so they can cry together). 🥺

I know I'm in a mood to watch some Transformers G1 and Transformers Prime, if I get a chance. My phone's ringtone has always been the end credits theme for the G1 series too, which is nice to hear whenever someone calls me.
