Originally released in 1981, The Kinks have shared a remaster of their single 'Destroyer', remastered by Ray himself. The track has long been regarded as the bands most self-referential song, with fans remarking the song could be viewed as a sequel to the groups infamous song 'Lola'.
“We recorded this at the Power Station studio in Manhattan, I shouted out the chords to the band as we went through the song. The engineer recorded it, and it ended up being a master. Members of Blondie were recording in the next studio they stood in the hallway and must have thought we were playing “All Day and All of the Night” - Ray Davies on ‘Destroyer’.
Alongside the updated version of the track is a brand new animated video which is available to watch now!
Sharp-eyed fans will catch a little nod to the recent animated video for You Really Got Me. 1964’s Ray, Dave, and Mick side by side with their 1981 counterparts. A full-circle moment, perfectly capturing the spirit of The Journey series.
