Hi,
I'm here to try to debunk
Tom Bombadil and the enigma that he appears to be. My ideas and
concepts seem to be rather unique as I have done exhaustive searches and have not seen the same story told by anyone else (other than Copilot and Gemini when I put forth these possible histories for discussion). Here is an excerpt that is a result of backtracking all the way from the 3rd Age and following clues to a possible origin story that would fit chronologically within the framework of
Tolkien's mythos.:
✶ The Origin of Tom Bombadil ✶
And
Eru looked upon the
Ainur, and he saw that they did not yet perceive His Vision in its fullness; for the mind of
Ilúvatar is greater than the Song, and in his word there lie things which no Ainu envisioned in
the Great Music.
Then
Eru spoke, and his voice was as thunder and light in the Void, saying:
EÄ! Let These Things Be!
And in that moment, the
Ainur perceived The Vision and were given power to manifest all of creation. Yet as the world was brought forth, they heard a sound which whispered in the background—a sound of which they had no comprehension, woven of Eru’s spoken word, the noble theme, and the chromatic dissonance that had arisen in the Music. And that sound was manifested together with
Arda, becoming together the physical reality.
Eru watched as Tom Bombadil went down to
Arda and became "The Eldest"—a being whom the Ainur believed was merely a mistaken note in the Song, born of ignorance, but whom Eru held in high regard. And
Ilúvatar looked upon him, and said to Himself,
"This is good," and then said no more…for there came a time, a full age afterward, that
Eru Iluvatar saw His Vision for
Tom’s purpose fulfilled, but for now was all but forgotten by the Ainur.
Thus, before the Great Lords descended into the world to shape its
valleys and its seas, a joyful happy little man stood already upon its soil—coeval with Arda, yet set apart from its sorrow—keeping the memory of that sovereign moment unblemished in his heart forever.
