Why did 🧝Legolas eyes change color?

[L.Greenleaf]

Hi everyone. I am not sure if this question has already been posted. If so sorry to repeat. I was wondering, why did Legolas' eyes turn blue in the TTT. I noticed in FOTR he has brown eyes but certain scened in TTT they are blue. If anyone has an answer please let me know. Thanks.

I don't know what it is. It could just be the way the lights are hitting them, or maybe, elves eyes turn a different color depending on their mood. Then again, it could just be a production mistake.

Welcome to the forum, L. Greenleaf!!!

Thanks. I guess it must have been a production mistake because I only noticed it once in TTT.

Legolas has blue eyes, but Orlando has brown eyes. I think depending on how the light hits, the contacts he used don't always come across as blue.

Thanks for clearing that up for me

In FOTR they are blue too.But from distance they seem to be brown.
I've noticed that with Melian and that is why we watched carefully some scenes with him.I used zoom of my dvd to see that Legolas eyes are actually blue. Not as blue as in TT but blue.

Thanks Gil-Galad. By the way who is Melian?

They change colors. If not they are blue. But does it even care?

[siptfire7]

Maybe they change colors when he senses danger? What do you think?

[ILLOTRTM]

haha, that would make sense, but I doubt it I'm not sure what color they are in FOTR, but in TTT they are blue throughout the beggining, but then at Helm's Deep you'll notice they are definitley brown. Just a simple mistake, I'm sure

Isn't it weird though that in FOTR his eyes look brown and in TTT they are blue?

[PipaHappyHobbit]

I noticed that his eyes were different too. Orlando's eyes ARE brown,l ike you said,I asgalen. My mom and I think that they ( the movie poeple ) used "color contacs". Blue ones of course. My mom wears contacs too. She has greyish blue eyes when shes not wearing them, but when she does wear them, her eyes are almost a bright blue. So I think that prob what they did is had him wear blue colored contacs.T here was this thing here in Tx, where convience stores were selling them to just anybody, so they could change their eye color, but then they would hurt people eyes, so they don't have them any more.( I don't think so anyway) But I'm sure they had them speicaly made so they wouldn't hurt his eyes.

[Elf Goddess]

Brown eye would NOT look good on him

[mirkwoodwarrior]

I heard he just forgot to put in his color contacts on some days.

They just look brown, because the camera shows them fro ma distance, but actually they are blue and green.

Oh great...more discrepancies for us fans to notice!

Legolas's eye color did not change, Peter Jackson admitted that Orlando, repeatedly forgot to put in his contacts resulting in a brown-eyed Legolas.

Balrog? embarrassingly when I was little I used to think they said bell rock!!

why do they need to use contacts in movies? they make it sound like having brown eyes is a bad thing for an elf? I have brown eyes and I would have loved for Legolas to have brown eyes also!!

I would have loved for Legolas to have brown eyes because, blond-haired characters basically always have blue eyes in movies it gets kind of boring after a while

I think brown eyes would look great on Legolas, he actually looks better when his eyes are brown.

I think brown eyes would look great on Legolas, he actually looks better when his eyes are brown, which is why I love Pirates of the Caribbean.
