Haudh in Gwanûr was the burial mound of Folcred and Fastred, erected at their death in T.A. 2885 upon the shore of the river Poros.
History
In the year 2885, during the reign of Turin II, Haradrim, stirred up by the emissaries of Sauron, seized South Gondor, and crossed the river Poros. When Folcwine, king of Rohan heard of Gondor's plight, he sent many men to aid their ally. Folcwine himself desired to go but was dissuaded by his twin sons, Folcred and Fastred who went in his stead. With their aid Turin won a victory at the crossings of Poros; but the sons of Folcwine were both slain in the battle. The Riders buried them in a mound after the fashion of their people. The mound was named Haudh in Gwanûr, and the foes of Gondor feared to pass it.
Etymology
Haudh in Gwanûr is a Sindarin name, a compound of haudh (mound), in (plural genitive article), and gwanûr (brothers, or kinsmen).
