Háma, born in TA 2975, was the chief personal bodyguard of King Theoden of Rohan.
History
Háma was the door ward of the Golden Hall in Edoras, the abode of King Theoden. This Golden Hall was built by Brego, the son of Eorl, the first King of Rohan. This Hall, also called the Meduseld, was completed in 2569 of the Third Age. On March 2, TA 3019, Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli traveled to Edoras to meet with King Theoden. They were greeted by Háma, the Doorward, at the Golden Hall. They were asked to surrender any arms in their possession at the doors by Háma as per Grima Wormtongue's orders. However, Háma got into an argument with Aragorn, who was unwilling to leave his sword Anduril behind. Háma persuaded Aragorn by assuring him that it would not be touched by anyone. Going against the house rules, he permitted Gandalf to carry his sword with him as a courteous gesture. He made a remark that said, "The staff in the hand of a wizard may be more than a prop for age."
This act of Háma annoyed Théoden, who dismissed him from his role as a door guard for a brief period. However, the staff proved beneficial in relieving Theoden from Grima Wormtongue's influence. Grima, a servant of Saruman, was condemned as a traitor. Háma was glad that Theoden was not under the influence of evil anymore. On Theoden's commands, he released Eomer from prison and returned his sword to Guthwine. Theoden's sword Herugrim, which went missing, was revived as per his commands. While the people of Edoras marched towards Helm’s Deep to take part in the battle against Saruman, Háma wanted Eowyn to stay back to guard the city. Theoden complied with Háma and ordered Eowyn to remain safe at Dunharrow along with women and children. Háma was part of the Battle of the Hornburg fought by King Théoden against Saruman. On March 4, TA 3019, he was killed by the Uruks while defending the gates of Helm's Deep, and his body hewed. [1] His body was later buried in a solitary tomb at Helm's Deep. Theoden personally took part in the last rites because of his great affection for his loyal and devoted door guard. [2]

In the movie, The Two Towers, Háma is killed by a Warg-rider during the Battle of Hornburg fought between the Rohirrim and Saruman's forces. He is devoured by the Warg. Háma is part of both the video games: LEGO the Lord of the Rings and The Lord of the Rings Online.
