Ilmare

Ilmarë was the Handmaiden of Varda Elentári and the chief of the Maiar. She was the greatest and most powerful of all the Maiar.

As the Handmaiden of Varda, she was a guardian spirit of the Stars. She was one of the chiefs of the Maiar, along with Eönwë, Herald and Banner-bearer of Manwë Sulimo.

In earlier versions of Tolkien's legendarium, Ilmarë was named Erinti, and was the daughter of Manwë and Varda. As Erinti, she was the Valie of love, music and beauty. The second half of January was named Erintion after her.
