History
In January, TA 3019. Uglúk led a group of Uruk-Hai soldiers as instructed by Saruman to hunt down the Fellowship of the Ring roaming through Moria. They attacked the Fellowship at Amon Hen, and two of the hobbits, Meriadoc Brandybuck and Peregrin Took, were captured. Boromir was killed trying to protect them.
Uglúk and his soldiers headed toward Isengard with the hobbits. A group of Orcs from Moria under Grishnakh's leadership were working with Uglúk and his group. Grishnakh tried to apprehend Merry and Pippin to take them to Mordor instead, but Uglúk wanted to stop them and follow Saruman's commands. To stop further conflict, Uglúk beheaded one of Grishnákh's followers, after which they continued towards Isengard.
Snaga, one of the Uruk hai', told Ugluk he had sighted the Riders of Rohan. This frustrated Uglúk. He fed an Orc drink to the hobbits so they could move faster to escape the Rohirrim. The Orcs from the Mountains, too, were afraid and frustrated, hearing about the Rohirrim. The Mountain Orcs tried to flee towards Fangorn Forest. However, they were stopped by the Uruks to keep them together as a single larger force. [2]
The captive hobbits were driven close to the fringes of Fangorn Forest. Grishnakh was slain by a Rider of Rohan while searching for the One Ring to take it to Mordor. The hobbits set themselves free using Grisnakh's blade, and fled into Fangorn Forest. Uglúk was attacked by Eomer's Rohirrim army by the Forest. In the early hours of February 29, TA 3019, the Rohirrim overcame the Orc forces and Uglúk was killed by Eomer.
