The truth will out!Heheh. Considering "Endorfin" hailed from English endorphin (which Ando himself refuses to admit, incidentally), basically meaning: "any of a group of peptides occurring in the brain and other tissues of vertebrates, and resembling opiates, that react with the brain's opiate receptors to raise the pain threshold" . . .
Uh-huh. Egyptian hieroglyphics territory for me again as far I was able to understand anything - meaning nothing. 🤯. . . the "Elvish" [ahem] name Endorfin, even written in the "full" Mode of Beleriand, for example . . . well I guess it would depend upon whether or not you consider the nasalized tehta a "letter".
Ando writes his Quenya nickname with one letter and one "vowel mark" -- that is, with the letter called ando -- with an o-tehta above it.
To be absolutely truthful, I did not have the foggiest inkling (!) about what you posted. The "High Philology" parts of Christopher's writings, mostly in HoMe, lost me after at most a line and a half. Might as well credit me with knowing linear calculus of something of the sort (if that exists) - not a chance in Angband. Not that you don't know this already, ...
Apology. The basic answer to Gil-galad's hair colour seems to be "no one knows" for certain . . . but I don't want to further derail the thread today.
__________
Nor will you Galin, as you're now banned again . . . at least from this thread for the rest of the day!
Ando
Not my fault. I tried to get a link between Ereinion and Endorfin going (see previous page), when philology intruded (I think).Wow... talk about derailment...![]()

I think I'll head over to Appendix E in RoTK. At least there I have a ghost of a chance of understanding things.Okay. Day over. I'm back. And I'll try to drop the attitude (includes my recent "Black Death" comment elsewhere).
Or maybe not!

Though these two clips may be iconic in some TV markets, they mean exactly zero, zilch, nada, nix to me … 🤔
So that's why something about it seemed familiar! Very realistic facial expression, reviving memories from my "active" days, which were mercifully sliding into dimness and oblivion. I'm not sure I'm overly happy about having them revived! 🤨Mine is from The Office, the US version. It's one of my most favorite TV series 😁
I watched LOTR for sixth time and I saw something interesting. In the beginning when Galadriel speaks about the rings and the battle between elves, people and Sauron,Gil-Galad can be seen on two scenes. The first one which shows Cirdan,Galdriel and Gil-Galad watching the rings and the second one while he is killing orcs with his spear. These scenes are just a few part of the second.So.Gil-Galad is with black hair, but he is son of Fingolfin and nephew of Finarfin. It's said about Finarfin:
"...alone among the Noldorin princes he and his descendants had golden hair, derived from his mother Indis"
Why Gil-Galad is with black hair, not with golden. It was written somewhere that Finarfin was with black hair and that explains the color of his son's hair.Is it true?I'm not sure whether Gil-Galad was with black hair.
So the question is black hair or golden?
