Hello all!

We noticed that some signatures were quite long, and to not "clutter up" too much in discussions we decided that we should not allow too long signatures.

The new rules are:

• Max 1300 characters long text (anything longer will result in: ...)
• Anything larger than 250px in height, will be "cut off", i.e. not visible

We also made the signature text slightly transparent, so that it can be easily distinguished from the post content..

Please update your signatures accordingly

Also one thing we noticed: If you set a specific color to your signature, e.g. dark grey, you should be aware that it might not be readable in e.g. dark mode of the site (Something to keep in mind)

I wholeheartedly agree with what was done in October 2022 with signatures. Something I would like to see is the return of the 'Signature Switch' that used to be available on the old VBulletin forum software. It was simply a tick box on the 'create post' screen that gave the option of displaying or not displaying one's signature with that post. There are times when I would prefer not to display a signature, like when I'm posting parts to a story. I looked around and only found a setting to display or not display signatures.

I like signatures, and it adds a personal touch, and I am glad they have been 'reigned in' with the update I quoted, but it would be nice to have this old selection feature returned. Is it an issue with Xenforo not supporting it?

I assume it’s a Xenforo issue. Maybe we can look for an add on but this would make sense for say a thread in red book where you’re posting a long story. You wouldn’t need a signature after each post.

It just seems like a small thing. The old UBB and VBul had it, but it seemed to have gone the way of the ¢ sign. Would it be possible to turn off signatures for the Red Book of Westmarch forum?

Apparently it is available as an 'XF2 Add-on'. For $35 USD you can download as many XF2 add-ons as you like and get support for a year. After the 1 year, you can keep using the add-ons. I'd pay the $35 just to get the signature toggle.

5eres not a way unfortunately to currently turn off signatures in specific forums. I’ll talk to mazzly about the add-on for hiding them though.

I believe it's Bert. Ernie has the more 'elongated' head looking a little like an egg with hair on top.

As an update on this, mazzly made a change to the Red Book section to remove signatures from showing. We may also remove from the RP sections as well if people think it would be useful.
