For context. Not seen the 2026 movie.
I mean specifically the 1945 book and the 1954 cartoon movie

But the conclusion i got out of it was. It starts with altruism, yknow teamwork and stuff like that. BUT? As the saying goes. (Road to hell is paved with good intentions).
So i think George Orwell, likely added a satirical framework, of what a poorly managed community looks like.

The ultimate question is this? If you got the choice. Do you go from bad to worse?

The character "farmer Jones" is likely based on Tsarist rule in Russia
The Pigs represents what will eventually become the Soviet Union

Knowing Tolkien, he wouldn't like the allegory i think :)

However Lewis did, thought it much better than 1984.

Of course much of animal farm also satires dictatorship of any type, and also exploitive capitalism.

But thats not what the novel is about. Its about usurping of power in a Communist allegory. Andy Serkis is a socialist, and at best. Is a satire of itself, of what i imagine the Pigs would have made as a propaganda movie. Not seen the 2026 movie, but i heard it wasnt that good

Animal Farm literally is a satire of Soviet Union, though. You in fact have 1:1 relationship between the pigs and various key players in the Russian Communism (e.g. Napoleon = Stalin, Snowball = Trotsky, Old Major = Marx and Lenin, and so on).

Specifically, absolutely. However all dictatorships are similar in what they say and how they operate. So AF is more broadly relevant, rather than just a satire of one specific dictatorship or even one style of it.

"Puts on my serious glasses"
To explain why Andy Serkis version doesnt work? Or whether he misunderstood the novel? Or just made a intentionally bad movie?
The criticism in the novel. Is NOT money exploitation done by rich people?

Its about altruism, which gets usurped by a power hungry ruler who wants to expand it, aka Strong Central Government.
Historical example. Communist nations has had millionaires and billionaires. But the state is watching them like a hawk (Read that again? See if you get it now?)

I guess if i were to suggest a real life solution? Party that supports Decentralization of power, interms of Government influence. But i am yapping now :)

edit: Unless the movie is a twisted joke, on the alterations the Pigs does in the novel :)
Such as "Four legs good, two legs bad" which later means "Four legs good, two legs better"

That Serkis' adaption of Animal Farm failed both in the eyes of the movie-goers and the critics makes me a bit "anxious" regarding his upcoming work as the director of the Gollum-movie. 😅

Can’t be any worse than the Gollum video game, can it?

I also can't help but think maybe the new movie is meant as a joke. Angel Studios recently posted a short in which they seem to be making fun of themselves and the movie. Yeah, they called the fans "pigs", but I'm pretty sure it's satire, since they said that the people who didn't like it are a "loud minority", when it has a 2.5 star rating on imdb, and the trailer has 20k likes versus 232k dislikes.

Hopefully? But unfortunately, reality is weirder than satire nowadays, so you can't even tell when something is a satire and when it is not...
