In reading again through PE 17 in the last few weeks – I run across something that caught my eye, so, taking notes - cross checking books and articles, I think there is something here worth seeing as a comparison/contrast sort of study. Here is what I came up with for your enjoyment, while...
Well a certain Lady Elf at least
"the Lady Galadriel is above all the jewels that lie beneath the earth!"
"it is enough for me to have seen the Lady of the Galadhrim, and to have heard her gentle words
and
"to name a single strand of your hair, which surpasses the gold of the earth as the stars...
We all know Galadriel is the grandmother of Arwen, through her daughter marrying Elrond the half-elven, and sadly we know what happened to her poor daughter, and that she sailed to the west.
I can only imagine the Long torment her mother's heart suffered being separated so long from her...
We have topic about Arwen's shoes. So now it's time for a Galadriel. What kind of shoes does she wear in LOTR and Hobbit movies? I guess that some kind of sandals and boots. I found a picture of her boots, probably used in movies.
I've read the books before I watched the adaptions by Bakshi and Peter Jackson. These people here come close to my idea of how the characters would look like.
Gandalf (the Nessie-researcher Adrian Shine)
I am very unhappy on how Galadriel will be portrayed in the Rings of Power, but I am not here to express just how much I hate it.
I saw an interesting video, on whether or not the Amazon portrayal is actually accurate, by Tolkien's description of the Lady of Lothlorien and her early days...
I checked Galadriel's page and it was a literal disaster of misinformation. They are presenting those 'lore' as canon even though they are just all discarded and passing ideas of Tolkien. Not only that, they even sometimes make up their own stuff which have no basis in Tolkien. Not to even...
How did Gandalf the white know when he could return to the undying lands? did he get a telepathic message from Manwe? Also how did Galadriel know that she had got a pardon from the Valar before she returned to the undying lands?
Accidentally read two chapters without noticing ;) Not too much First Age stuff here though.
Some of these are relevant to potential (minor) issues with the 1937 Eldanyare collection (possibly to be retconned from The Annals of Aman or the Grey Annals of ~1951).
Haldir has a brother, Rumil...
In the Annals of Aman she was born in Y.T. 1362. That means she must have been some 1332 years old at the time of the Exile.
Was this changed? Because in Nature of Middle-earth it seems it was changed.
"Galadriel . She was born in Aman. At the exile she was young and eager,
just at or upon...
Hello Everyone! So as we all know that Galadriel capture the light of the Silmarill in a phail so my question is can she capture the light of Silmarill in the Arkenstone? And just for clarification, she haven't created her phail yet so she still has the strength so can she do it? Can the niece...
So mallorn trees, at least few, existed in early Third Age, before the foundation of Dol Guldur probably. But Galadriel had never visited Lorien in TA until 1060!
I guess she used Elessar to grow some mallorn trees after the War of the Elves and Sauron. It seems Olorin gifted it to her sometime...
"Of the march of the host of the Valar to the north of Middle-earth little is said in any tale; for among them went none of those Elves who had dwelt and suffered in the Hither Lands, and who made the histories of those days that still are known; and tidings of these things they only learned...
When exactly the Valar forgave Galadriel?
Galadriel's line "I will diminish and go into the West" doesn't refer to her being forgiven. It refers to the Curse of Mandos and the fading and diminishment of Elves and "slain ye may be and slain ye shall be; by weapon or by torment or by grief and...
"Galadriel his sister went not with him to Nargothrond, for in Doriath dwelt Celeborn, kinsman of Thingol, and there was great love between them. Therefore she remained in the Hidden Kingdom, and abode with Melian, and of her learned great lore and wisdom concerning Middle-earth." - published...
I purchased some artwork for a book I am writing but will have no more need of them once the book is published. I will send the original file and all rights to the pictures including rights to make a profit in any way you wish. I only reserve the right to continue to include them in any future...
