Akalabeth, Fall of Numenor, Revelation 13 parallels.

Sauron=The Beast out of the Earth/The False Prophet Ar-Pharazôn=The Beast out of The Sea/The Antichrist Melkor The Morgoth=The Great Red Dragon/That Old Serpent called The Devil and Satan Am I the only to notice this? Sauron sets himself as a High Priest type figure leading everyone to...

Akalabeth - Was The Destruction of Numenor an Immoral Act?

Oh kay, so I just finished this book (again, since I read it once before) and something really struck me. As a child subjected to that frightening institution known as 'sunday school', I always found the story of Noah's Ark to be terribly unjust. What bugged me was the way god could just drown...

Are the dimensions of Numenor in Fonstad's Atlas accurate?

I just read that Andor measured some 167,961 square miles, according to Fonstad's Atlas. Land of Gift indeed! If this indeed were true that would make it approximately the size of New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia combined! How did she come up with that figure, and is it accurate?
  4. 👁️Sauron's escape from the wreck of Numenor

We know that as one of the Ainur (Valar and Maiar), Sauron was able to change his shape and appearance. Why then did he not fashion wings for himself and fly off when Numenor started crumbling into the abyss, rather than losing his body yet again, and having to go through the fuss of spending...

Question about 👁️Sauron & The Fall Of Numenor

I have a minor question concerning Sauron and the fall of Numenor. It mainly involves the One Ring. In The Silmarillion, in the section Of The Rings Of Power And The Third Age, it mentions that Sauron sank with Numenor: The world was broken, and the land was swallowed up, and the seas rose...
  6. The Economy of Numenor

The Economy of Numenor This is the thread where the Economy of Noldor will be discussed. The first sub-topic will posted very soon :)
  7. Air of 🧙Wizards? or of Numenor?

The Two Towers: The Window on the West: I'm just curious as to people's views on that quote. Do you think that Faramir represented the men of Numenor or wizards better? I don't mean just by appearance and blood, for we know that Faramir has Numenorean blood in him and has that "air" about...

👁️Sauron and the destruction of Numenor

I was thinking and I was wondering how Sauron took over Numenor. It says that he seduced King Pharazon and slowly turned Numenor into a wicked kingdom, thus eventually bringing about its destruction, but how did he decieve Pharazon? Might there be another ring involved to win him over to evil?

    Additional info on Numenor?

Numenor? Is there more information on Numenor aside from the Sil? I found this portion of the Sil to be one of the more interesting ones and I was just curious if Tolkien ever wrote more.
  10. Fall Of Numenor.

I have realized that Tolkien’s approach of the Fall of Numenor is somehow different than the other tales of ME where he is mostly an observer, a historian that analyzes the past. He invented time-travel to go back to Numenor (The Lost Road), he suggested that visions came and warned of the...

    Numenor is Atlantis?

Numenor Here is a simple one: Do you find any similarities in Tolkien`s words between Numenor and Atlantis?
  12. Kings of Numenor

I'm a little confused about something I read in the Akallabeth. Ar Pharazon was the last king of Numenor - he sailed off into the sunset and brought about its downfall. OK, I understand that. Amandil and his son Elendil escaped (rather, Amandil tried to make it to Aman, and Elendil went to...
