towers

The marimba has a very distinct and pleasant sound. I've not often heard it on its own. Also, if you didn't know it is possible to play an organ piece on damp glass, well now you do. I'd say my favourite instruments to listen to are the glockenspiel, music boxes, and bells (do I just like...

On Page 111 of The Fall Of Gondolin it mentions Bablon, Ninwi, The Towers Of Trui, and Rum, and I wondered if these are mentioned anywhere else, and if so where are they located in Middle Earth?

Now i do wonder why she would be there? Maybe thats why they cut it out of the movie

I have a modest collection of Middle-earth related books. Aside from four or five novels by JRR and/or Christopher Tolkien, I've managed to gather up several volumes of The History of Middle-earth and every MERP module I can find that's about the East, Witch-Kings or any kind of awesome...

Does anyone have the source for Tolkien himself explaining what two tower are The Two Towers? Before you answer, I've looked up many theories and explanations. Not looking for why this tower or that tower but for Tolkien's own words. In my recent read through, in chapter III The Black Gate...

Most of my comments here have been about references to first-age names. Now I have finished, I can mention a reference (that I forgot!) to the origin of Orcs, by Frodo. This is consistent with the Annals of Aman and QS(I) of c.1951,and a change from the Quenta Silmarillion of 1937.

I think he did it smart on that one. In the book Gollum is depicted as dark. But realistically if you were in a cave with no sunlight, being pale is most likely to be a thing. But in Fellowship of the Ring movie, Gollum is depicted as dark looking in that one. And then Two Towers is when you...

These guys obviously were evaluated as the most elite units, yet no factual combat performance was mentioned about them. Would they just simply hard-trained yet lacking chances for factual combat, due to their major mission designed for high-ranking officers's security? Is there anything to show...

I've always wondered what was in there. Did Tolkien write any letters about what was in there? In the book, it had scant descriptions on the place, mostly because everyone was trying to avoid the place at all costs.

I dont remember any siege equipment such as towers, catapults etc ever mentioned in the first ages of ME. So my question is when were these first invented?

Now a quesiton on The Two Towers that just crossed my mind while reading... Was this when Frodo put the Ring on at Amon Hen? That seems to be the only inteligable answer to this riddle I can think of... and would the high place be Zirak Zigil? Could it have been the Void? It seems i've...

Well... are there any? :D

From DVD review: We're thrilled to reveal the release date of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers on British DVD! Entertainment in Video tells us the middle chapter of Peter Jackson’s phenomenally popular epic will be provisionally available to buy on 30 June. Late June will see the...

Apparently a DVD of The Two Towers was sent to the Oscar judges for perusal and of course fell into the void of the black market and arose all over the world on dodgy market stalls. 10,000 have already been seized by F.A.C.T. They had it on my local car boot a few days after I saw it at...

Frodo's Dream From "A Conspiracy Unmasked" What exactly does this dream mean? I would have thought it was foreshadowing of the end when Frodo sails away from the Grey Havens, but there are 2 things wrong with that: 1. The whole snuffling thing and Frodo being afraid the creatures would...

Does this strike a resemblance with the stone sentinels of the Tower of Cirith Ungol ? Is it possible that these were Drúedain corrupted by Sauron? What do you think?
