Hello, I am a new member and, having been named Durin by my parents, an avid Tolkien reader. My wife and I, as dog lovers are both getting similar dog-centric tattoos, but to connect mine to my other Tolkien themed tattoos I would love a little help with the translations that I have been able to...
Greetings and thank you in advance for any assistance you might be able to offer. I am hoping that there will be some experts here who can assist in a project I am working on.
The project is a musical composition that includes samples from EastWest Fantasy Voices software, which says it...
Hello, My wife passed away and I want to get a ring commemorating our love and union. Could you help me with this Phrase? I would like to translate it into Quenya
"united (in marriage) in Arda as in Mandos."
Thanks
Hello linguistically gifted people,
I would like to have a sword engraved.
If I have understood correctly, the preferred way to do this in Middle-earth would be in Crith runes and Quenya.
For the Quenya part, I would need someone who can translate the following for me:
Spine of the Hedgehog *...
Hi! I am new here, and I was really hoping anyone could help with a translation. I am intending to engrave the sentence "You are my Blessing" in a piece of jewellery. However, my Sindarin knowledge only extends to Sindarin Tengwar transcription/transliteration, and is certainly not anywhere near...
This is continuing the findings by 0lorin at https://thetolkien.forum/threads/what-precisely-easterlings-chant.20821/#post-575920 .
The full phrase is:
Kilmîn malur ni zâram kalil ra narag, Kheled-zâram. Balin tazlifi.
from the FOTR movie, said by Gimli at 26 min in.
It’s based on this phrase...
Here's an inscription question: We are working on restoring an 1897 Ferracute E-52 coining press. It is a bit unusual... one of the earliest of the up-acting knuckle-type presses manufactured in the United States, and becoming quite rare. I want to make it something of a showpiece. It will be a...
Hi! I am new here so I'm sorry if I get to mess up and such, but going to the point; what would be some translations of the name Daniel in elvish, or in any other language really? All I've found is the sindarin translation😅
I need the very simple phrase "Fair winds" or "Fair skies" translated to Quenya, please. Or Telerin, if possible. It's meant to invoke safe sailing.. sort of like "Fair winds and following seas"... but, only the first bit.
Thanks! :)
Minecraft has a bunch of language options that aren't strictly real-world ones. For example, 'Pirate Speak', LOLCAT (can i haz cheezburger), and normal English but written upside-down. And well, I set my Minecraft to Quenya, and it is very entertaining. I've noticed translations being updated...
Is anyone else amused by the fact that palantír effectively translates to "television" and Glorfindel could be translated as "goldilocks"? What other translations do you find amusing?
Well met friends!
May I ask for some help checking over my translation? I'm looking to translate "not all those who wander are lost". I belive I translated it to "law pain i revlar mistar aen" and then again, giving the attached result.
Have I done this right?
Thank you in advance.
Hi there, mellyn! 🙂
I'm looking for help and guidance from this community regarding writing in the Sindarin language. The idea is that - I want to get a tattoo with the phrase "Follower of the star" or "Follow the star" in Sindarin.
After conducting some research using open dictionaries, mostly...
I have been using this site for translating some words here an there for two years now.
language experts,What do you think of it? Is it a reliable source?
I am making an Elf character to play in The Lord of the Rings Online with my brother. I'll be playing in the RP server, so I want to be as lore-based as possible, which means having a Sindarin name. Unfortunately for me, I am no master of Sindarin. If someone who knows what they're doing can...
Greetings!
I'm currently on the process of getting a correct Sindarin translation of a phrase from the Peter Jackson's movies: they differ from the books, but since it's for a tattoo, a shorter version is more manageable.
The phrase is "Fell deeds awake! Now for wrath, now for ruin, and a red...
Hello!
May I ask for the help of any Sindarin experts here to please check my amateurly coined words? I wanted to come up with a few titles and nicknames for Thranduil, in his role as Elvenking, and here is what I've cobbled together using Parf Edhellen:
Belaith ("The Mighty" - Sindarin) --...
I know that accurate translations of Adunaic have always been very thin on the ground, but if anyone can translate the entire Ring poem into Adunaic... My little nerdy heart will praise you with great praise.
Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their...
