wizards

I noticed that you have all these fun new forums for other fantasy writers such are JK Rowling, CS Lewis and such....and was wondering if anyone here has also ventured into the fantasy worlds of Frank Baum's "The Wizard of Oz" I started reading the series at the beginning of the year after...

From 'The Councel of Elrond': From 'The Voice of Saruman': Radagast is known as Radagast the Brown. Gandalf is called the Grey, Saruman is the White. The other Wizards are Ithryn luin - the Blue Wizards. What is the point of colors? It seems that they're important. How did the Istari chose...

In the Lord of the Rings there is little reference of the Wizard council in Middle-earth or the ranks of it. All I’ve gotten out of reading is: - Saruman was the head of the council - Ranks: Brown, Grey, White Does anyone have any other information?

The Two Towers: The Window on the West: I'm just curious as to people's views on that quote. Do you think that Faramir represented the men of Numenor or wizards better? I don't mean just by appearance and blood, for we know that Faramir has Numenorean blood in him and has that "air" about...

Were the wizard immortal? Would they live forever? If not, how long would they live?

.................

I always wondered what wizard was most liked on the forum, I'm pretty sure Gandalf will win since people who only saw the movie will most likely vote for him, but I am a Radagast fan, it's to bad he wasn't in the book alot or in the movie at all. Vote away fellow posters!

Which one is your favorite? Elf, Man, Hobbit, Wizard, or Dwarf. You choose. I prefer elf. They kick butt with their bows and elfish knives. They also never die. Only in battle or of a broken heart.

I don't know about you girlz...but I think the wizards of LOTR are soooooooooooooo dreamy!!! Thier long flowing hair and oooooooooh so sexxy beards just make me want to swoon!!! And they are so tall and bold and powerful. Heaven knows I luv a man who can take lead. Give me a man with...

As you all know, Alatar and Pallando arrived in Middle-earth dressed in sea-blue. For this reason, they were together given the name Ithryn Luin, the Blue Wizards. With Saruman, they journeyed into the far east of Middle-earth, but while Saruman returned to the west, Alatar and Pallando did not...

Is there a kind man (or girl??) there can tell me some about elfs and wizards? Ranks? colors? Were to live? Work? And so on? I will be very happy if here is one or two there wann tell me some :D:D

I know this has been discussed before but it is a most interesting topic. Out of 5 wizards only 1 truly fulfilled their quest. That is a 20% success. Or an utter failure. The wizards were sent from Valar to contest the with the power of sauron indirectly. But just look at the facts. The wizards...

I mean, I can't sleep nights because I don't know what happened to them. They passed into the East, and Tolkien said he suspected they founded some evil cults or something. Cmon, I have to know more!!! What's wrong with them? Why did they just go traipsing off like that? Sheesh, Istari...

It seems to me that wizards and magic users and very rare in Middle-Earth. The only people capable of using it are very important people (Galadriel, Gandalf, Saruman, Radagast...). So the question is, how common is magic and casting in ME. I'm guessing you wouldn't see thousands of mages...

In the Apendix it is said that it came 5 wizards to middle earth in the begining of the third age. Gandalv the grey Saruman the white and Radagast the Brown but who is the two others?????????? And are the wizards maians??????

Do you think Gandalf was in a devilish mood and 'moved' Bilbo outside? When you read the passage, you'll think Gandalf had something to do with Bilbo's forgetfullness of the moment....:D

Bad, Bad Wizard! Ok, besides Saruman, were there any other wizards turned evil?

I was wondering... How do wizards come into existance? They don't multiply like other races do they? Thanks for any help.

Another thread on this forum suddenly made a question pop into my head, and I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on the subject. Does anyone remember having a conversation about the significance of the number 9 in Tolkien's work? This is kinda similar. Is there any significance in the...

Here's an interesting question, what happened to the Blue Wizards when they were sent to the far east? For those who haven't read the Lost Tales, the Blue Wizards were among the Maiar sent to Middle Earth, their names escape me but oh well...nothing is mentioned of them that I have read, so...
