Did Finrod truly love Amarie? Why did he decide to depart to Middle Earth, out of duty or out of the elven innate adventure impulse we notice so often in Tolkien's universe?
Would somebody in love really decide to leave his beloved like that?
Was it inevitable to depart?
What do you think were his motives to choose Middle Earth over her, and did he really have a choice?

It's certainly possible. Curufin apparently left his (unnamed) wife in Valinor. Of course, Curufin swore an oath to pursue the thief of the Silmarils, so he wasn't going to remain in Valinor for any reason.

Amarië was a Vanya, so it's possible she may not have wanted to go against the Valar's will at all. Or perhaps her family even forbade her from going with Finrod.

I think it was both, in Finrod's case. The sons of Finarfin didn't want to forsake the sons of Fingolfin (according to Chapter 9 of the Silmarillion), and Fingolfin didn't want to abandon his people to Fëanor's rash decisions. Finrod could have felt this way too, as he opposed Fëanor when the Noldor were arguing over their course of action, after the Oath was sworn in Tirion.
Galadriel wanted to see the lands of Middle-earth and rule a realm of her own. Finrod travelled a lot once he was in Beleriand, so I expect he had a similar curiosity and thirst for knowledge (though perhaps not so much for power).

I don't think romantic relationships between elves are the same as humans' ones.
For starters, elves are immortal (sort of) they have all the time in the world. Remember Elrond and Celebrian, they wouldn't see each other for about 300 years. Galadriel left without Celeborn and it's not known when they reunited.

As per Finrod, he had the gift of foresight and he knew he needed to go to Middle Earth. No much is said about Amarie but I believe Finrod probably didn't want her to go with him. Finrod was apparently re-embodied and probably met Amarie again. When elves love someone, it's forever, it's not likely that Amarie found someone else (even though they weren't married). It's never said how long it took for Finrod to be re-embodied, 300 years? 100? 1000? Doesn't matter, for elves time is not important, they don't get old, and in Aman they won't die.
