Im just curious, i think i missed this...
Did the Huorns fight at the battle of Helms Deep? And if they did, did they make up that forrest that Gandalf and them traveld through when the fight was over? I didnt quite catch this...

I'm not sure if your talking about the book or the movie, but movie definately no and in the book I think it was Huorns and Ents that killed all the orcs that ran into them.

that makes sense, but did the Hurons just slowly make their way into the Coomb then? or did they wait on top of the ridge that goes into the Coomb...?

(Huorns not Hurons)
They followed the forces of Saruman down from Isengard, and then filled up the valley behind in front of Helm's Deep during the night. A day and a half later they all vacated the valley and went back up to Fangorn, leaving no trace of the Orcs that had fled into the woods.

I thought that part was the coolest. They eliminated the orcs, and didn't leave any mess behind for the Rohirrim to clean up!

Those Huorns are great to have around!

Yes... and no. Huorns are Ents that have become angry and twisted through the years. They also dislike strangers very much, especially Orcs. But yes they could be called evil (Treebeard called them black hearted) but a more effective term would be neutral and mean!

Mmm, it is not told anywhere that the Huorns were twisted Ents. It says that some of the older Ents were becoming “treeish”, but this doesn’t mean that all Huorns were originally Ents. Remember that the Ents are considered spirits that dwelt inside trees (because of Yavanna). I prefer to believe that the Huorns were just trees, with more abilities than the “usual” trees, but by no means sentient beings as the Ents were.

Except for the huge mound, of course.

In responce to gate:

I don't think that Ents were spirits sent to dwell inside the trees, I believe they were spirits sent to dwell among the trees. And yes, Huorns used to be Ents in my understanding. Ents in general (not just Huorns) were not terribly fond of strangers.
