'shield surfing'
I would like to see more superhuman stunts and special abilities.
Hi Scotland, from England!
Legolas's trick is superhuman, or even special?!
No, it's silly and pathetic, and completely out of place in the serious context of the battle.
His trick with the troll's chain in FOTR is clever, looks better, and is part of a whole lot of other genial nonsense that is going on with the troll, though that should never have been there in the first place - it's from Hogwarts!
PJ can never resist repeating his gimmicks, so he gives L another go in TTT, and the shield surfing is the result - absurd by any standards.

Hi Scotland, from England!

Hello back! Glad to see some brits on these forums! Cant be having them Americans hogging the blarney!;) (im gonna get ma bum kicked for that eh?!)

Having read every single word written under this thread i have learned a very important thing. Joxy is not a big fan of the 'adaptions'. I will therefore bow to your superior knowledge of the books and give you a wide berth on most subjects.

However - whilst i agree the shield surfing was a gimmick (pleasing mainly the 12 year olds) it was needed.

Dont forget these movies are rated so them annoying pre-teens can cough up their pocket money and fill the New Line coffers (what other reason is there to allow these monsters into a 3 hour movie?)

Lastly - i agree, there were many more chances for better stunts. But i think the gimmick worked in the scene it was placed (whole rows of them monsters cheered! Ye Gawds!) and i wanted more cool elven stuff to ogle over....:p

Wahoo Scotland and England. Anywho, i did think that Legolas on shield think was daft and a little amusing. I found Legolas amusing generally to be honest, standing on hills barking out stuff ,the orcs are heading south or something like that. And that kindof funny look he does when he sort of narrows his eyes and looks round, probably his eagle like eyes focusing in on something. Heehee, don't get me going on about that crazy horse stunt either, that was funny.
Though you have got to hand it to him, he is very good looking.

Personally, I thought Haldir in FoTR was too arrogant and condescending - or in more slang terms, snotty! I didn't like his character at all until TTT.

Question for PipaHappyHobbit:
Is older that 44 immensely aged? Why is 44 your upper limit?
