I'm currently re-listening to The Children of Hurin audiobook, and I'm a little unclear on what Morgoth's curse on Húrin and his kin did. Yes, they all died tragic deaths, but was there anything they could have done to prevent it? For example, if Turin had stayed in Doriath would he have been able to lead a happy life, or would the curse still have found him one way or another? And was the death of Saeros Turin's fault, or did the curse of Morgoth make it happen? Or both? Basically what I'm asking is was Turin's misfortune brought about by his own rash deeds, or was it the curse?
