Simple question, how, HOW did a 10,000 strong army of super warriors get defeated by a small band of no more that 3000 strong sortie of men and elves (most were old or young)?!?! it perplexes me, i mean if the Uruk-hai were as strong powerful and etc as all that how did they get defeated by thet small rabel?!

Morale.

Battles have often been won by the arrival of unexpected reinforcements. Old trick of Napoleon, although he lost Waterloo because in that case it were his enemies the Prussians that arrived in the nick of time.

The Uruk-hai had been fighting through the night, and thought they had in fact won the battle. At that point a completely unexpected, fresh mass of troops comes thundering down their flank. 2000, if my memory serves me well. Yes, that could tip the scales.

I applaud you faded_glory. But also, i think a small part of it was that Helms Deep was a fortress. And they have limited amounts of Uruk-Hai that can actually get into the place at once, making it just a little easier for the people inside to kill more. But Faded_glory is more right. Im just saying a small, minor reason.

well not all of them had been, most (at the back couldnt see any of the action so didnt fight, and they had lots of stamina! but there was at least 9000 left when Eomer arrived to thats nearly 5-1 i dont like the odds!

Where did you get the numbers that there were still 9,000 uruk-hia left?
As for the battle... I hope we'll see more at the beginning of RotK... and I expect that we will. It has to wrap up somehow and just showing Gandalf and Eomer arrive one minute and then cut away and come back with the battle already over will not work. PJ said in the director's commentery that he likes to open films with action.
So far both films have started very quietly but soon went into a lot of action, the victory at Helm's Deep might be a good way to do that in RotK.

In my opinion, the battle tactics of the Uruk-Hai were as such that they were

a) Surprised by the arrival of Éomer's force of 2000;

b) They were then confused and their battle plans fell apart;

c) And finally were scattered and defeated.

but faded_Glory's points about morale are also valid, and it is very possible that just the presence of Éomer's fresh force spurred on and rejuvenated the tiring Helm's Deep forces, and thereby taking the Uruk-Hai by surprise (even though the Uruk-Hai would have still had 1000s more troops).

seriously though...i believe morale was the major factor but also the fact that the uruk hai were fighting on two fronts. wth eomer on one side and the helms deep frces on the other...there was no safe place to be protected. Germany faced the same problem in WWII and although they survived it when Russia dropped out of the war (damn those nazis!), it was very difficult.

I don't want to be pedantic, but I think you have your World Wars confused a bit... Russia dropped out of WW 1, and there were no nazi's back then. Germany's defeat in WW2 was largely caused by the relentless and massive Russian offensives that bled them to death.

And now back to our regular programme.... :)
