We all know about the rivalry between cats and dogs, but let's put that into a middle earth sense and imagine Huan, captain of the dogs vs Telvido, lord of the cats. This battle happens in beren and Luthien but I think other outcomes could arise if you think for long e

I am a dog person so for me huan has to win. He has the heart, the strength and the stamina and he is the champion of the dogs

Sorry, but have to correct spelling here. It's Tevildo. And Huan already does win in one of the drafts of "Beren and Lúthien".

strength and victory
Victory, certainly. Strength in a way, yes.. but not 'physical' strength. Meklor was the 'mightiest' of the Valar, having a portion of all the gifts of the others. Sauron was the mightiest of all those that battled for Middle-earth after Melkor's fall. And Gandalf says 'black is mightier still.'

Many battles are won by 'black' along the way - and there is a reason for that in every case.

Part of the reality Tolkien presents us is that "Victory" is won by strengths and for reasons both different and apart from the obvious. Apart from all that we might think of or call "mighty".

Agreed.

Tolkien presents it in truth, as so oft battles fall in our duller days. He explains that victory, is not always seemed to be achieved by Goodness. Sometimes Evil wins the battles. But the Ultimate War hath already been won, and all else are distractions.

He was a Christian, so this view fits him.
