If Fingolfin is greatest swordsman, why does AI say Turin is greater?

A brief, unasked for update concerning my thread over at the One Ring Dot Net:

Last time I checked, no one had disagreed with me that Eonwe slewed Morgoth.
I do, in any case, Eonwe didn't slew Morgoth, he will slew Morgoth (maybe).
I never understood why Celeborn didn't go with Galadriel.
Also now in the thread, some nice discussion concerning the fate of Elrond's sons.
and of course there isn't any info about that.
And I probably should add - last time I checked, no one had agreed with me that Eonwe slewed Morgoth either.

🤣
It hasn't happened, yet.

in any case, Eonwe didn't slew Morgoth, he will slew Morgoth (maybe).

Oh I agree. I guess I shouldn't have used the bent form of the verb.

Maybe I should have said :deep breath:

Externally speaking here, Eonwe was once going to mangle Morgoth from Tolkien's perspective - in Tolkien's past - well before he (Tolkien not Eonwe) changed a certain prophecy into a Mannish Myth, leaving the almost unspoken "reality" of who actually was going to slay Morgoth (a fictional event in our future) for me to discover in my past, having read The Book of Lost Tales years ago now.

Or something.

and of course there isn't any info about that.

I (opinion alert) find enough information here (with respect to the fate of Elrond's sons) for me to draw my "conclusion".

Some or many might disagree with my conclusion, or even how I approach this matter, but it wouldn't be the first time.

Threads requiring an extensive lineage and participation in Speculation tend to have significant 'staying power' because Speculation is so difficult to know how and when to stop.

Thus - The Great Halls of Speculation - now curated by the most able @Klaatu.

For Ent this one is simple.
1. No text says.
2. Tolkien did not clarify elsewhere.
3. There isn't sufficient bottom to the pan to crack an egg onto.

In sum: where Tolkien was silent, Ent will be silent.
THWACK - (picture Klaatu as the target of the ball just hit.)

Ahhh, Ent… THWACK duly received. I felt that one echo all the way down the speculative marrow.

Guilty as charged: I vanish for a bit, cross a few parsecs, misplace a calendar, and suddenly it’s been last year since I last posted. Time does that when you’re loitering in the Great Halls of Speculation, staring into pans with no bottoms and eggs with no destiny (or cheese, mmm cheese).

You’re right, of course. Where Tolkien was silent, we must practice the ancient and noble art of gestures vaguely while rambling anyway. Speculation doesn’t end—it just sheds its skin and grows antlers. If there’s no text, no clarification, and no pan sturdy enough for breakfast, then clearly the only responsible action is to speculate responsibly… and loudly.

I accept my curatorial bonk with honor. The ball may strike Klaatu, but the echo belongs to everyone.

I wish I could express myself like you and @Ent do, my writings look so rough and unsophisticated by comparison
