🎶Music for Middle Earth

In digging through a box of books, I came across a copy of Fanfare from a couple of decades ago, and noticed I'd highlighted a CD containing a piece called "Middle Earth" for investigation, but never followed it up (the review was pretty negative). I found it on YouTube, and the best I can call it is "anodyne" -- well that, and the fact that most of the nine pieces clock in at two minutes or less. I offer a couple here more for completeness sake than as recommendations:

No idea what he had in mind here:
As a contrast, several years ago I posted parts of "The Lord of the Rings Symphony" by Johan De Meij; for those who missed them, I repost two of my favorite movements:

Note that this piece long predates the movies -- though someone in comments claims Howard Shore made some nods to it.

The rest of the movements can be found on YouTube, as can be the other pieces by Russel.

I was prodded by SES to post this one, LOL.

One of my favorites for everyday listening. I don't much like empty silence, so this is nice and gentle enough to occupy the space without being too distracting or stimulating.

From the video description:

This is the Finnish version of Tolkien's "I Sit Beside the Fire and Think". It was composed by Toni Edelmann whose music was used in the Finnish TV series "Hobitit" (an adaptation of Bilbo's meeting of Gollum, plus LotR in selected parts) in 1993. The music is pret-ty famous among the most hardcore Finnish Tolkien fans.
