Opinions on adding a pendant to the Narsil shard coffee table?

Hello, so my brother is making a coffee table with the shards of Narsil in it. He's asked me my opinion, but I thought I'd ask your guy's opinion. So, on the left side of the coffee table, you can see a big knot in the wood, and there is an elongated pit right above that. He wanted to cover it up with something, so he was gonna put the same cloth that the sword is on, onto the pit, and put the Evanstar pendant on top of it. I personally think he should just leave it like it is, because if he put the pendant next to it, i feel like it would take away from the sword a little bit. Thought I'd ask for opinions. Thank you.

I'd definitely fill the splits in the knot with resin.
The gash...not sure. I'd have to think about it and maybe consult some Woodworking forums.

There are Youtube videos that deal with this type of problem.. there are other videos similar to these...

Just a thought: instead of laying the shards in the sedate pose seen in the movie how about a symbolic action pose? Maybe you could find an "Eye of Sauron" piece of some kind. Have the shards almost fully assembled and in contact with The Eye as though the sword had just struck Sauron and the sword is seen at the moment of its shattering.

I just noticed that "Narsil" in the pic is not Narsil... it is Anduril broken (cut) into "shards"
Narsil had no inscription on the blade, no runes.
