So,

The Battle of the Five Armies.

The extended edition tries to improve what is considerably the weakest link in this chain.

Now I've heard of scenes that really SHOULD'VE been in this movie:

I'll list them:

  1. Gandalf talking to Thranduil about the white gems.
  2. Bilbo planting his acorn in Dale. (I WANT TO SEE THIS!)
  3. Beorn telling Gandalf and Radagast they failed to save Middle-earth.
  4. Gandalf's speech at the funeral.
  5. More Bard in Lake-Town.
  6. Tauriel firing an arrow at Smaug,
  7. Thranduil explaining the real meaning of the gems to Gandalf.
  8. A full minute of Beorn fighting orcs and killing a TROLL.
  9. More of Bard and Gandalf fighting in Dale.
  10. Dwalin witnessing Thorin's death.
There is no reason to have these scenes removed. Interestingly, we don't have PJ to blame. Warner Bros' removed them without PJ's permission.

We were promised 30 minutes of extended footage, not 20. I feel shortchanged by WB. I can't believe these words are coming out of me mouth, but I want PJ's extended edition, with all these scenes.

Also, I've heard the Extended edition is so gory it makes you sick. Is the gore necessary?

Let me know what you think.

I would LOVE to see those, too. Regarding the gore.... I think, in today's movie-making culture, yeah... to sell this story... yeah...

I guess since the orcs and trolls aren't exactly, "Human" they can get away with it.

True.

However, the best scene in BoFA for me is the farewell of Thorin to Bilbo - when he was dying. I mean, Martin Freeman's acting in that scene.... IT WAS SO REAL. Really made up for all the stupidity that was included in the movie.
