Philosophy of Gollum

I was watching LOST commentary on the Moth episode. Sometimes i do like commentaries more than the episodes, but LOST is both good normally and with commentary. Entertaining series.

But according to Dominic Monaghan who played Merry from LOTR. He plays Charlie in LOST. He said his inspiration for looking all drugged up in this scene he borrowed from Andy Serkis as Gollum from LOTR. So addiction is more the case of the philosophy, or the evil of longing for stuff that has no true value to it.

Interesting about Dominic Monaghan, but I'm not sure where philosophy comes into the matter of addiction.
