I'd guess that
Lúthien marrying
Beren put a stop to that. Dior and his children (only Elwing surviving beyond childhood), and Elwing's husband Eärendel, son of
Tuor, were basically considered mortals. It was only through Eärendel and Elwing managing to get to
Valinor with the help of the Silmaril, to plea for help for the two kindreds against
Morgoth, that they, and after that their children
Elros and
Elrond (and after that Elrond's children again), were given special dispensation to choose to which kindred they wished to belong. A dispensation by
Eru given through
Manwë, as seems to be the case.
The only character who resembles Lúthien in some ways is
Galadriel, who learned a lot from
Melian herself in
Doriath. Galadriel (enhanced by her Great Ring?) seems to have been able to protect
Lothlórien with something resembling the
Girdle of Melian. And as Lúthien did with
Sauron's tower on Tol Sirion (by the called Tol-in-Gaurhoth), the first
Minas Tirith in the
First Age after
Huan had nearly destroyed Sauron's incarnate form, so Galadriel casts down
Dol Guldur after the destruction of
the One Ring.
